Commodore Chocolatier — Attraction in City of Newburgh

This has been a family run business for decades. The owner and his staff are friendly . What you go there for is, of course, the chocolates. The dark, milk, and white chocolates are so rich and creamy. People from miles around go there, especially around Christmas, Valentine's, Easter,and Mother's Day. They use the best chocolates and nuts for their candies. The most famous item is their chocolate dipped strawberries. They use the freshest ripe large strawberries, and the chocolate covering is thick. During the busy season, they will have them ready for you, but even then, if you want them, you have to stand in line while they make the next batch. They make some great cream filled chocolates, candy bark, and truffles. A unique one is the candied ginger with dark chocolate on the bottom. Also, their mint patties are creamy with a nice mint flavor that is not overpowering. For Valentine's Day, they make a solid chocolate heart box filled with their candies, plus heart-shaped chocolate lollipops and assortment gift boxes. Also, for Easter, a solid chocolate Easter basket filled with jelly Bean and chocolates, plus many other candy molds of solid chocolates (rabbits, eggs, cellphone, crosses, computers, etc.). Only word of warning if you come to buy their candy on hot days, don't leave them in a car. They will melt. Bring a cooler to put them in. They don't put a lot of food wax, which is why their candy is great. You can't keep it in your hand too long, for you'll have chocolate covered fingers. You want to take small bites to savor the sweets, but then the fun part is to lick the...

I just drove 1200 miles to get some of these fine chocolats and you might say thats crazy but... next closest place to get this quility chocolate is all the way in Europe. For true chocolote lovers this place is paradise. For peopel that would like to experience world class chocolat with unbelievable viriety, no distance is too great. If you the kind of peorson that is happy with a Hershie's bar ( not sure if I spelled the name right nor do I care to give the brand even that credit), this place is probably not for you. As for me, i will gladly cross this wonderfull contry to come get me some chicolote from Commodore. And for the owners of this business, you guys are my heros. You are making history (and some fine chocolate) and the contribution to the local economy and culture is immessurable. From service to product this place is world class!!! Can we get some more locations...

I gave 2 stars only because of the woman behind the counter. She probably should be sent to edict school. Was in there this weekend with my daughter I have never in my life had a employee of a business be so nasty to my child and myself. Her inappropriate and rude comments were not needed or appreciated. As for the rest of our experience that was amazing other person behind the counter was amazing he helped me with all the things I needed to pick up and was able to help me with any questions I had. The items we bought were absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend the products from here as long as you don’t have to be helped by the woman.
