Not aimed at this church specifically, but i guess, this post is aimed at a majority of Malayalee churches in the US. It's a good place, I guess, as long as you fit in with the cliques. There's no space to question, to challenge, to grow, etc. A lot of the "faith" gets mixed with cultural values/how the older generations were brought up. There was a time I needed people and this church was not there but maybe the fault lies with me because I expected too much. However, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who felt this way.
If you're looking for a place where people congregate so they can pretend they're part of a community, then this is it. Please keep in mind that this is written not by someone who hates the Malayalee community and is all pro-Western culture. I love parts of the culture and the humor and especially the arts and I will try my best to keep that alive for the next generation.
