So, I decided I was going to make cloaks for Christmas presents, yes cloaks đ I had about five to make for family members. I went on my hunt for the perfect fabrics for each person. So I went to Joannâs, this being one of the few places I knew I could find a wide variety of fabrics. I started to price out each cloak (each one needing about 4-6 yards per outside and inside lining) each cloak was going to cost me at least $200, easy! I just couldnât do that, no way. I immediately jumped online to see where I could find, for the lack of a better word, cheaper, in the sense of price wise and not in quality. This is when I stumbled upon Discount Fabric Outlet and let me tell you that Iâm beyond floored that I did. Walking into the store was pure bliss and felt like a little slice of, what I would call, MY HEAVEN! First of all, yards of fabric for $3.99âŚ.. câmon! The options are amazing and always changing. They always have new stuff. If you see it and love it, buy it! I promise that itâll be gone the next time you go in. The owners are awesome, itâs family run and personally I love that. Itâs always Brad and his mom when I go in there and they are always nice, personable, and always eager to help you find what you are looking for. I accidentally didnât get enough fabric once so I called the store and talked with Brad, he gave me the text number to reach the store, so I was able to send a picture of the fabric that I needed more of it. He set it aside for me because I wasnât able to get there until later in the week. Now, if that isnât amazing customer service, idk what is. Anyways, my cloaks are finished, gifted to each individual, and they are LOVED! The quality of the fabrics I bought from DFO doesnât even compare to what I wouldâve bought anywhere else! Each cloak cost me under $50 to make and in my opinion, thatâs a steal! Do yourself a favor and check this place out đ youâll always have my...
Read moreI'm one of those people that usually takes my time shopping because I'm not the best at finding correct items, I get nervous about asking for help, and my own experience has been that since the pandemic started most places are understaffed or doing the bare minimum to run smoothly. This isn't one of those places, the moment I walked in I immediately knew I WOULD be back. I was greeted and assisted in a very kind and natural way and given so much valuable information. Great fabric prices aside, they're good people and employees who genuinely help in ways that take anxiety off the customer and gives them space to find the perfect fabric they have in mind while being available for any questions. This is my new favorite fabric store and as a matter of fact I think their customer service is so good that I'd be willing to buy SUSHI from the store no questions asked. Yes, raw fish right off the shelf. And I think that says a lot about customer service and overall products for a fabric store. I was really blown away. I...
Read moreAdmittedly, I had planned on going into the area to go to a different fabric store. When I realized the place i had originally wanted to go was closed, I figured what the heck. Give this shop a shot. GREATEST PLAN B EVER!!!!
Huge stock and variety, all of it appearing to be great quality. Knits, woven, apparel, upholstery, they even had leather while I was there. I havent been this excited about a shop in so very long.
The employees were so nice to a girl who normally only gets to go to big box stores. Made sure I was doing good, and explained how they came to be in business and the kinds of fabrics they are look for.
Their price point is really incredible. Less than 4 bucks for the apparel fabrics and less than 5 for the upholstery. Anyone who sews knows the feeling of dread the moments before your cutting into $50 price of fabric for a pattern that you've only made 1 muslin on. Super stressful. These prices make it ok to be a person who learns by making lots of mistakes!
Thank you guys so much and I will be...
