I love this restaurant. I literally order delivery at least 2 to 3 times a month. I ordered a few weeks prior and the food was so messed up that they gave me a $20 Credit. After giving me issues about using my credit, I ordered two days ago. Everything was fantastic. So, I figured why not order today. First of all, the grease from the beef tacos is insane. I mean Taco Bell meat is less greasy than this. Then, a small order of quesadillas where the beans were liquid and pretty much all over the container. The two margaritas were lukewarm, and usually they are cold. This was just a mess all the way around. I’m not a cheap person. I throw down at least 70 bucks plus tip every time I order. However, after today’s meal, I don’t think I’m going to be re-ordering from them. It’s a shame because I love the people that take my orders and the delivery people are fantastic. I would look at my photo so you can see the amount of grease from the tacos and I did fix the beans up a bit, but they still look pretty bad. I finally did get a response from a manager, and he literally accused me of not tipping the servers or the delivery drivers. Which is total BS because when I go into eat, I always tip at least 25%. Also, when I get delivery it’s 2.5 miles to my house and I give the delivery driver $10-$11. I was accused of not tipping delivery drivers and not tipping servers well, if the server takes my order and I’m not aware that they need that tip for spending two minutes of their time with me then how am I supposed to tip them? One of the delivery drivers told me if I paid by credit card whoever took my order gets all of the money and the driver gets nothing. I find that appalling and offensive and that is why I pay cash now. I’m never ordering from them again I spend hundreds of dollars a month on booze and food from them. There’s no consistency whatsoever. It wouldn’t be bad if one out of every four meals were crummy, but every other meal is unacceptable. I’m sure they don’t care that they’ve lost a customer who spends over $300 a month with them – sometimes even more. But, to be accused of not tipping is appalling when I make sure to tip well as I work in a tip based business. FYI, the gentleman who delivered my food last Sunday was about to leave it at my house with me and runoff and I could have let him do that but I owed $55 on my bill and then I threw a $10 tip in for him. I could’ve been slimy or selfish and just took the food and told him to have a nice day, but I’m honest and I do not appreciate to be...
Read moreUpdate – the last time I went here was today. Totally not the same restaurant as it used to be. The drinks were wrong. We said no salt or sugar and they both came with salt so we proceeded to wipe them down with our own napkins (the waiter was oblivious/nice smile but didn’t really care at all and I know the bartender is always on point). The chips were crunched into not even bite-size morsels but a plate of salt crumbs. The salsa was watered down beyond belief and had no flavor. I had to go into the bar to order my food as our waiter did not return. Then when the waiter came back, he didn’t know what was going on, and I told him I ordered to go food at the bar and the waiter didn’t ask us if we needed anything. Our drinks were empty and crumbs/salsa gone. No questions or help. I had to bring my ticket up to the bar and pay. I left a tip, but honestly, I would rather the bartender get it because he did more work than the actual waiter. The bartender during the day is always great. We should have sat at the bar. Way better service there. I know during the day they are prepping for the evening BUT don’t open if you are not equipped to SERVE during this time. My two to go tacos were so puny that they appeared to be one taco. What is up? Although the tacos were very good. At least I know I can still order carryout as wait service stunk. I will only order carryout or from the bar. Waitstaff is rarely that great there but this was just really disappointing (esp when they have three customers). I will only order carryout or sit at the bar if I ever return again.
I dig this place. The first time I was here I didn’t stay but the food was good. Second time I stayed for a cocktail but was a little bit miffed due to the dry lime but happy with the food. Today was my third time and I was super stoked with the bartender who was not only friendly but spot on with the drinks, orders, and all the peeps at the bar. The servers were really nice too. It made for a fantastic atmosphere and the first time I have had truly fantastic service since the pandemic started. Greet drinks, conversation, and food.. Isn’t that what you want when you pop into a local bar/restaurant? Nothing better than going out alone and not picking up my phone for the duration of my time spent.
Many options if you are a vegetarian.
Great happy hour and I will...
Read moreThe place looked clean and they have outdoor seating which is great during these pandemic times. The service was friendly and everyone seemed to stick to strict Covid safety protocol.
To start out I was in the mood to sit outside and have some drinks. When I asked the server what drinks they have she mentioned a few off the top of her head but didn't bring me a drink menu. I ordered the Guava Arbol (which is one of the 3 that she mentioned). It was delicious, but kind of small. I may just be being greedy because I wanted more. 🙃 Later on I saw people at a nearby table getting some really big delicious looking drinks. When I asked the server what those drinks were she told me it was the Frank's BFT. I definitely would have ordered that too if I knew it existed before I was ready to go, but I didn't. The whiskey selection was decent but not outstanding. When the first name in the restaurant is "WHISKEY" I was expecting to be able to find at least a couple unicorn bourbons to sample (Taylor, Blantons, Pappy, Weller, etc). With that being said the drinks and cocktails they do offer all seem good.
The complimentary chips and salsa was great!!! The salsa wasn't just diced tomatoes and onions. I definitely tasted some roasted red pepper which gave it a richer flavor profile. I had a couple tacos (steak fajita, and a soft crunchy soft chicken taco). Both were good.
In summary I have already recommended this place to a couple friends as an alternative to another popular taco bar. I can tell that the owners and bartenders takes pride in the place which I appreciate. The food is good. The drinks are better (although we need to know all of our choices in advance). I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could. In my opinion it is a few more high end whiskey selections and giving the drink menu immediately away from being 5 stars. I would definitely come back when...
