Dollar General — Attraction in Clementon

I walked in with my 4 children after visiting the water park next door to purchase cold bottled water. After I walked in the cashier called me back, stating I had to leave my back pack with him. I informed him I had my wallet and other valuables in it and wasn’t comfortable leaving my personal items with him, out in the open, in the front of the store. My children were choosing the water (1st aisle of the store, I am visible and 15 feet from the cashier), when the manager comes out to inform me I have to leave my back pack or get out. I again inform him I have a number of items in it that aren’t safe to leave at the register (wallet, phone, jewelry, an iPad). He blocks the aisle and tells me it’s written store policy and that he would call the police because I was now trespassing. I am informed the store is not a public place and he can decide who he allows in his store and with what. I tell him I hear what he is saying but that I disagree. That he is implying I am going to steal since I am using a back pack. I ask that since he is standing in front of us that he can comfortably escort us to the register to make sure I’m not stealing, and ensure that I purchase water on this 90 degree day for children. He informs me he is calling the police and he has “forbidden” his cashier to ring up the water we want to purchase. At this point my 4 and 6 year old are sobbing. I love this place! To be fair I love going to most dollar stores but this place is my number one spot because I can get in and out quickly and I can find nice brand names items at a low price. Not to mention the store is a lot nicer and cleaner than those “Everything costs $1” places.

Dollar general has a diverse inventory where you can get a lot of off brand items at a low price but of decent quality, but you can also get brands like Covergirl makeup and Tide detergent at a low price. Even the off brand or cheap $1 items are nice quality for how much they cost... Also the holiday items are always unique and adorable, I love stopping here to get small Christmas presents for teachers and other presents for people who aren’t...

If I could give no stars I would. I went there today for a few things. Paid for those things. Cannot find 2 of those things. If they're not in my home or in my car, they're at the store. Hamburger buns and a bottle of Sprite. I didn't notice until the burgers we're done. Called them, they say they'll check the camera, either way my husband goes there for more buns. Has to repay for said buns. Not even the same brand buns. So I go to have my soda when I finally get to eat after working 14 hours and it's not there either.
