Gordon Food Service Store — Attraction in Cleveland

Very clean and the staff was SO NICE!!! I was offered assistance 3-4 different times and even had assistance carrying my large haul to the van. The cashier was attentive when she thought she had accidentally over charged me (something she caught not me) and very friendly. It's a great store that is similar to the Aldi's or Save-a-Lot experience where as it has many in house brands at lower prices. The selection is also pretty small but for me that's okay bc they have all of the basics. I'm not going in there to buy tires, Tylenol, and a TV but I did get lots of meals. My only suggestion would be to take your own bags if you don't like the boxes that they pack your...

About a month ago, I purchased the gfs brand of mac n cheddar salad. When I began eating it with my lunch, it was obvious it was spoiled. I checked the date and it was well past the expiration. So I had to return it. Yesterday I purchased a loaf of fresh focaccia and again I sat down for dinner I realized the bread was bad and 6 days past the expiration . I just returned it only to find that all the focaccia on the shelf had the same expired date. I returned the expired product and made the employee aware that they were all expired. I don't know what's going on in this store, but you should be able to trust that they have fresh products...

I never have a problem inside the store. The previous reviews have covered nicely the service and cleanliness inside the store. Outside of the store, it's a different story. Be prepared to be asked for spare change or a dollar by local panhandlers as they watch for you to come out of the store after you have made your purchases. They usually start walking toward your parked vehicle from the nearby railroad tracks or if they are taking a shortcut through the parking lot from W. 116th St. If it weren't for the fact that this store was so close to me, I would opt to shop at a different store because the panhandling...
