This is a beautiful hotel, especially inside. The rooms are fairly spacious, though they are certainly not all the same size. We've stayed here twice and our first room was very large with a spectacular view of downtown Cleveland, and the second was smaller with a nice view. These rooms are priced the same and we stayed in a king both times. Actually, the first time we came they gave us a dark and depressing room with (if I'm remembering properly) a view of a brick wall. We we asked to move and paid a little extra for a city view. So it's hard to know what you'll get until you arrive.
There is a giant TV, a closet with an ironing board and iron, comfortable bed and pillows and decent linens. The location is right downtown.
Here's what I don't like: the trash cans are tiny, our refrigerator was leaking water inside, there's no microwave, the cleaning was sub par this second time, with dust on the handles of the drawers and on the Kleenex box and the water pressure in the shower is pretty weak.
But the rooms are solid and quiet, the staff is friendly and responsive, it's very pretty, there are stores and restaurants in the "arcade" and there are some great restaurants within walking distance. I highly recommend Tasa if you like middle eastern food.
Also, you'll pay for parking. The lot next door is $40 a day with fees for leaving and coming back. They do have a valet service for $39... I imagine the costs are pretty similar if you factor in the tips, though we haven't tried it. It looks pretty convenient. Make sure to factor parking into your per night charges.
Well definitely...
Read moreMy fiancé and I were planning on having our wedding at the Arcade this December. Everything was set, but unfortunately we ran into some severe medical issues, and are unable to afford the venue now. We contacted our representative reporting our issues. We were told that they could delay the payments, but we told her that it was absolutely not feasible at this time due to multiple medical bills. We sent a notice of official cancellation 5/10, and were told that we would still owe a percentage of the total amount. In the contract, it states that cancellation charges are due when the event is cancelled without just cause. I believe that significant medical issues should be considered just cause, and a little more sympathy then what was given. We were forwarded to the director, who did not give much of a response. We also asked why our hardship is not just cause, and received no explanation. They are requesting that we sign a cancellation agreement, agreeing to pay the extra money. Not only do they want us to pay an extra $4,550.00 due to the cancellation, but we are also unable to get our deposit of $3,250.00 back. The only services rendered by the arcade were 2 meetings, and a few emails. In these trying times and extenuating circumstances, you would think that there would be a bit more understanding and cooperation. Overall, I am heartbroken and disgusted as to the way the situation has been handled, and would never recommended anyone to schedule any...
Read moreWe walked into the hotel and the first thing we see is garbage in the arcade. We go to check-in at 1:30 (which is early) and were told they would give us a upgraded room that was ready for an additional charge of $12 a night with a view of the arcade. We declined as the arcade is empty and almost everything is closed or abandoned. Later we checked in and got our bags from the car. The room is a decent size but there was a dried up contact on the floor and a pill case from previous people on the floor. There was a note saying clean me on the window which nobody saw i assume. The coffee pot was missing parts and we had to get a new one sent up. We used the gym during the evening and a security guard followed us in and went in a room where i assumed watched us the whole time (kinda creepy) The valet and other hotel members only acknowledged us 1 out of the 20 or so times we walked through the front door and that was when we had bags. The only place to eat was open from 7:30-10 am for dining in and than from 5-10 for room service which isn't a huge window. Overall i wouldn't recommend this location, it is in a building which is almost always empty and has very few stores that are ever open. I would stay somewhere with some options on dining and...
