Absolutely incredible views and a lot of activities to do. The area has come alive in the past few years and it’s sort of the way old-school Cleveland was once upon a time described to be like, before the modern downturn over the past several decades. Walking through the downtown streets and driving around the city and neighborhoods— something is changing recently and the city life is reawakening and foot traffic is crowding out again filling these once empty sidewalks, streets, and parks. The renovations of old deteriorating buildings, influx of brand new high-rise apartment buildings and office spaces around the city core, the mega sports-complex renovations, and all the construction and added spaces has helped fuel the upswing and the city is looking younger and more alive each year. Still a lot of work and improvements needed, especially with local services and corruption in leadership roles… but the recent developments taking place in city and county elections has brought about a fresh, younger, more progressive and diverse leadership. I have been returning to visit regularly now and considering moving back to the city soon! I am coming to appreciate it more as it improves and I feel like it’s got so much potential. The lakeside views are amazing, the city lit up this time of year always looks beautiful by the lake… Christmas lights throughout the city, and the skyscrapers lit up at night! Makes for some stunning aerial views. The area has a lot to offer: water activities, nature with the Cuyahoga Valley National Park extending from the Southside of Cleveland all through to Akron basically, then you’ve got the rolling green hills at the eastern burbs and into the next county over, the Central City has numerous prestigious museums and educational institutions, the winter offers its own set of events and opportunities for those who love snow and wintertime fun! Just a great city! I’m happy to see it coming up. Put it this way… I would move to Cleveland over Columbus any day!

Beautiful square in downtown Cleveland, designated as a national historic place. The surrounding buildings are beautifully designed as well. The recent renovation closed off sections from vehicular traffic, which expanded the size of the square and made it more pedestrian friendly. Definitely add this to your itinerary, especially if you're a first time visitor. There's lots of photo ops within the square and you can read up on the history as you take a stroll. There is a Civil War monument and a statue of the city's founder. We noticed panhandlers roaming about, but they seemed harmless. Still, some people might find this intimidating. Finding street parking can be challenging. The spot we found was a couple of blocks away, near the public auditorium.
