Allwood Branch Library — Attraction in Clifton

New library "looks" good but is not as functional as the old one. Books are not labeled by category, so good luck finding what you need. Sofa chairs are uncomfortable. Working tables are too close to the entrance so there's no privacy for working. Children's area is nice but librarian is not too friendly with the kids. Also, for the amount of money spent on renovating the children's room, there should be classes and activities for them (very limited calendar of activities). In addition, library cards expire every year, so every year, you need to go back with ID/proof of address, etc. Librarians and staff seem inflexible..and they are pretty loud. Would be no stars if that was an option:( horrible experience!! brought my severely disabled son many times there. He requires 24/7 nursing care and we have no nurse right now. It took us 3 hours to get out of the house. I have a problem with my library card so I've used my husband's many times. Yesterday was there with my son and my 4 year old. We spent a lot of time picking books only to be told by two really mean librarians that we can't take out books with his card!! Not only that but the brand new library is not handicapped accessible! Maybe they should have spent some of the money on putting in automatic doors and not adding two heavy doors to the children's section....

i'd give it 2 1/2 stars for the lack of strict librarians when it comes to the noise, but otherwise its a nice decent sized library, but its just too NOISY inside! I think the only time I've ever experienced it quiet, is when they're nearing closing time. In my hometown the librarians were so strict about noise that if you made any loud noises you'd either get yelled at or kicked out of the library. I'd love to enjoy a nice quiet place to do my work until I can get internet in my new house. the only thing I like about this library is the fact that their tables have outlets for your labtop charger and a USB charger...
