This is a great way to see Pikes Peak & Garden of the Gods. This company is wondetful too. We drove it once 18 yrs ago & I dont recommend. While you can go at your own pace & stop whenever, it's a stressful drive & your driver will not enjoy it as much as the rest of your group. It will also destroy your brakes. This 2nd time, we opted for this jeep ride which came highly recommended from others. Sidewinder was a very sweet calm & patient guide. A couple of pieces of advice...1. Dont plan another excursion the day you do this. Theres a lot to take in, weather & other things can happen & this is wonderful & plenty for 1 day. You will get to see Garden of the Gods too. 2. You will want tons of pictures so make sure you have a fully charged phone. Also note you will have likely have little to no actual cell service. 3. Bring snacks & drinks. They will have some for you but having your own is helpful. They will stop you at the gift shop/visitor center on the way up. DONT order food here. The food service is awful & you will wait forever for it. Use it for a bathroom break, pictures & purchase of trinkets only. 4. Take Dramamine before you go & drink plenty of water before you go. This will help with potential altitude sickness that can be a real deal. Dont drink or bring soda prior too. This can make altitude sickness much worse. 5. Dont wear shorts or short sleeves. Pants or jeans & hoodies are best. They do have blankets for you if needed. 6. The top is beautiful & you will get about 30 minutes there. Dont waste your time on the "famous donuts" at the cafe at the top. The line to get them will be long & a couple in our group said they werent even that good. The trip is pricey but worth it, so I wanted to share some tips. My only suggestion to the Company is letting people stop at Devils playground. It looked fun & wasnt 1 of our stops. However, there were plenty of other amazing stops. I would recommend this company if your interested in a jeep ride up to the peak. We heard the cog is nice too, but theres a lot you dont get to see since your going up only the side of the mountain. Having someone else drive it for you all the windey way up is hands down an experience to remember! This...
Read moreLast weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of hopping into a Jeep with the one and only Axe Man for a tour through Colorado Springs and the stunning Garden of the Gods. Let me tell you, this was hands-down one of the best adventures I’ve ever had! From the moment we set off, Axe Man’s energy was infectious—he’s not just a tour guide, he’s a full-on experience. The Jeep itself was a blast—open-air, rugged, and perfect for soaking in the crisp Colorado air as we cruised through the foothills. Axe Man navigated those winding roads like a pro, all while dropping a wealth of knowledge about the area that left me in awe. He’s like a walking encyclopedia of Colorado Springs history, geology, and lore, but he delivers it with this wicked sense of humor that had me laughing the whole way. I mean, who knew learning about rock formations and old pioneer tales could be this funny? When we hit Garden of the Gods, the views were jaw-dropping—those towering red rocks against the backdrop of Pikes Peak are something you have to see to believe. Axe Man knew all the best spots to stop for photos and even shared some hilarious stories about the park’s history that I’d never have found in a guidebook. He’s got this knack for making everything entertaining, like when he jokingly warned us about the “ancient rock monsters” that only come out when tourists forget to tip their guides—pure gold! What really stood out was how knowledgeable he is. He pointed out little details—like the way the rocks got their shapes over millions of years or the hidden trails the Ute people once used—that made the whole place come alive. It wasn’t just a tour; it was a masterclass in Colorado’s natural wonders, sprinkled with Axe Man’s super funny quips and charm. If you’re in Colorado Springs and looking for a Jeep tour that’s equal parts informative and hilarious, Axe Man is your guy. He’s a total gem, and I’d ride with him again in a heartbeat. Five stars doesn’t even cover it—this was an adventure I’ll be talking...
Read moreWe booked the Gold Camp Road and Waterfall Tour advertised on the Garden of the Gods website. At the suggestion of the website, we booked the Twilight Tour (5:00pm) for color and it was a great time of day for both color and comfort (temps). Our tour guide was Chipita and we cannot say enough great things about her - she was fantastic! We loved that she grew up in the area and also had some personal stories to contribute. She was a sweetheart, super genuine, knowledgeable and funny. She took an interest in what other things people had planned to do while they were in town visiting and gave some additional info for example, she told us what to do to prepare for our trip to Pikes Peak the following day and another small town we could drive to in order to see the peak from a different vantage point, where to eat, etc. I was a little apprehensive about climbing the small ladder into the jeep due to a leg issue I have, but Chipita even put my mind at ease about that letting me know she had a step stool and brought it out quickly and helped spot me alongside my husband without making me feel self conscious about it at all or drawing attention to it from others in our group - she was sweet, helpful and professional letting me just blend in without making a big deal about it and I actually had no trouble at all anyway, but felt at ease either way. The views we got to see on tour were stunning. We had done a self guided audio tour of the Garden of the Gods earlier in the day, but Chipita was able to give a ton more info and help us see formations with stories, etc. that were totally worth driving through the grounds again with a guide. Pair that with the drive to Cheyenne Canyon and this was top notch! Highly recommend this tour, but huge recommendation to get on a tour with Chipita if...
