Joined Lifetime Fitness in hopes of find a gym that would be focused on training. Lifetime is stacked full of good things like a cafe, salon, tennis courts, basketball, rock climbing, weights, etc.
The downside to this gym is that it is simply an upscale YMCA. You will quickly find that their are kids running just about everywhere and you will be forced to wait, even in the weight room, for a twelve year old or younger person to finish using the system you really need.
Weight Room: Has a lot of great systems and a quick gander will show you that Lifetime is really focused on cardio junkies and system training. The free weights make up less than a 1/3 of the entire floor and remarkably only consist of 1 set dumbbell weights over 50 lbs. This, of course, means you will have to wait in line to simply use the dumbbells unless you are sporting an exercise routine of less than 50 lbs. The weights are in increments of 5 lbs so if you are planning on building strength and size, you are forced to make 5 lbs jumps. This is unlike most gyms who offer 2.5 lbs increments thus allowing for the reduction of injury and the increase in strength. I have yet to ever not wait on a dumbbell or open bench.
Rock Climbing: A good area but the routes are not labelled properly and again, you will be forced to wait on kids ranging from 5 years old on up to simply get a good climb in. Due to the hours the wall is made available, there is no such thing as a "good time to climb" as the wall is always over packed with children.
Pool: Is a great asset when staff monitor it properly and ensure kids are not in the lap lanes simply playing or having teen "date night". The outdoor pool is great and my son and I have spent numerous days in the summer enjoying it.
Child Care: The child care center is great. No real complaints here. My son loves it and this is the only reason I justify paying triple what I did at 24 Hour Fitness.
Showers: Excellent
Tennis/Basketball Courts: I don't use either.
Cafe: Good food at a reasonable price. Most of the items are healthy-depending on your personal goal.
All in all, the club is focused on families and feels like a YMCA as kids are everywhere. If the club could focus on rounding up the preteens and teens-this would truly help those wanting to focus on fitness. As a parent, I go to the gym to work out and decompress-not babysit. The parking at the gym is horrible as it is usually overflowing with people. Cell phone service is non existent inside but the club does have free wifi-but not throughout the club. The fees are not set. Since starting my membership-they have raised the rate every year by a couple bucks. For those wanting a family circus-I would recommend this club. For those athletes and body builders-get ready for some unorganized chaos and frustration. The club has only been open a little over a year and they have already had to replace the...

Since writing this original review, I continued to deal with the same issues for over 2 years with poor management and lack of quality childcare. Today I cancelled my membership.
My family joined not too long ago and was disappointed almost immediately.
The locker rooms usually have over flowing towel bins and trash. If you want to go anytime in the morning, lunch break or after work allow extra time for parking as it is usually packed full at these times. At these times, there are usually cardio machines available but the weights area is too full to find a spot to workout .
The pool areas are decent but the staff running the pools are not trained or managed properly. There are not a standard set of pool rules they follow or maybe make rules up as they see fit. The indoor pool is not accessible for families at reasonable hours due to swim lessons. The whole pool is shut down for this. If the weather is bad you cannot swim inside till swim lessons are over. When the outdoor pool was broken one day there was mayhem and no adult staff around to assist members or give information. The younger staff took this opportunity to socialize while families waited for answers with frustrated children.
The childcare center is a safety hazard. I hate be sound repetitive, but the staff in the child care area are so poorly trained its scary. You have toddler to age 11 grouped together in a large area with little supervision. There are large amounts of children in the morning time, so much so that you can barely walk through. There is never enough staff on hand to assist the children with conflicts or maintain safety. The staff stand around telling (even yelling) at the children not to run and that they will get a timeout of they keep running. Time out should be the last resort after engaging the children in play and redirecting behavior as needed. The staff have little to no interaction with the children, outside of telling them to stop, and often looked bored. Lifetime should consider getting licensed by the state for childcare to improve this experience.
The past few weeks the buildings been torn apart for construction. The only thing I can tell they are upgrading is the floors. There are boxes and trash everywhere. The halls are lined with pallets of flooring. Lifetime management should be ashamed of how their building looks and how they are treating there clients...
Read moreHorrible horrible experience, if I could leave a zero star I would. I love the facility, and the pool, but let me start off with saying that the customer service from Jordan was HORRIBLE. She tells you anything to get you started, kind of like a bait and switch. My family and I went in one night.. my husband, myself and our four kids. We went over the whole process, walked through facility, went over Pricing and prorated rates.. we decided not to sign up that day, and the next day Jordan calls with great news. The sign up fee went from 99 to 29. This sounded good so we signed up online. A few days later I gt a call, I need birth certificates from my kids because they have different lat names. I explain to them I just moved here and don’t have them. Jordan said she would see what she could do and get back to me.. I never heard back from Jordan, so I talk to another gentlemen. He tells me they do need it, I explain to him that I don’t have it, and we just left it at that.
I went to the gym yesterday with my family.. I was inactive along with one of my kids. Then I was told I was inactive because I have a different last name as the primary member. This was a first I had even heard of this, why did nobody tell me this??? Why would they cancel me with no forewarning, along with two of my kids. I spoke to a team member about how unprofessional this was, nobody told me we would be dropped? Nobody even tried to work with us to resolve this issue. He said he would give us a call back the next day after he talks to management. Well today I get a voicemail saying that basically I am a liar, and that the manager Cody DID tell me we would be dropped.. this is blatantly a lie. I work in Customer service and let me tell you something. I would NEVER leave a voicemail like that to anybody. Cody never told me we were getting dropped, but I guess we should have really been given an Altimatum in the beginning when they noticed my kids had different last names. Give us birth certificates, if you can’t find them we will refund your money. Get it together guys. Show a little bit of compassion for your customers. I have never had problems like this with any gym. I have been embarrassed and treated unfairly because my kids are different last names. We are a blended family, and I am Mexican and e s white, and our kids are white and Mexican... is this normal routine? Is it racism? I don’t know. I do...
