Otero Park is usually quite peaceful in the sense that the only times there are as many or more than two groups or families is from around 6pm to 8pm. There aren't any restrooms there, and no other benches for resting those weary bones. Circle K convenient store is a 10 minute walk for most. For dog enthusiasts, many do bring Fido along on the trip. Most dog parks have a fenced in dog play-area, which Otero decided grass wasn't designed for, even though there are some small trails leading into an open-space hiking/biking area which is essentially just a field with some yucca, cactus and medium-sized bushes throughout those trails, which only hide a few rabbits here and there. Bring the gloves and throw the baseball ⚾ around. All in all, very serene and welcoming. Just limiting in amenities and activities. So-bring the kids and the pooch and an active imagination and have some fun in the park without safety as an issue. Oh! Leave the shoes at home. There is grass from one end to the other, unless you venture to the open-space area. Then you find stickers, burrs, goat-heads and cacti. (First aid kit may be opened from that adventure.) 4 stars...
