Last week, my wife and I decided late to have a few slices of pizza. We heard great things about the new pizza place inside Avenue 19 called Upstate Pizzeria. We ventured over to the downtown area and arrived at Upstate Pizzeria. We were greeted by Rich who had great customer service. He was quick, efficient but also personable and learned how he’s from New York and that he’s always been around the pizza game.
On to the pizza, it’s New York style and you can order it by the slice or pie. We ordered 4 slices - 1 cheese, 1 pepperoni & 2 cheese with ricotta.
Each slice was consistent and cooked well. Great base with no flop and makes a great fold.
Once you take a bite the sauce takes over and is a standout. This sauce is balanced and matches well with the toppings throughout. Each bite allowed the same great crunch with plentiful toppings. Rich was very generous with the ricotta and I can definitely appreciate that.
These four slices were affordable and the taste outperformed the price.
Also the thin crust is a perfect compliment to the base of the pizza slices.
Overall, this is a no brainer decision. Come here if you want to enjoy great NY style pizza in Colorado Springs.
There’s no doubt that Upstate Pizzeria will be getting busier once word of mouth picks up. I can’t wait to see their...
Read moreWe went the second week after they moved upstairs. Our wings were delivered 45 minutes after we ordered them and in a to-go box even though we were eating there and watching the game. Pizza took an hour and was also delivered in a box. We we've given paper plate and plastic ware. The bartender told us we would be better off ordering drinks downstairs despite there being less than 10 people in the place. The very loud bingo game going on downstairs made it impossible to hear the football game. The owner came over and introduced himself, but my guests were too shy to say anything about the terrible service. One of my friends said, "I'll never complain to an owner and get some poor kid fired for not doing a good job; I'll just never go back." Good point, but had it been up to me, I would have said something. The wings were tasty, but a little fatty under the skin and not as crispy as we like. The pizza was excellent,...
Read moreI heard that this place is the best NY pizza in town. I pull up and it looks like a warehouse. The upstate sign is small. The dining room is a bit messy and disorganized. In the back is a warehouse of some kind. The staff was friendly. I ordered a hot honey pepperoni pizza. It came out pretty fast. It was good. Not the best I've had, however, I'm not sure its getting a fair shake as I think the honey was a bit sweet for me and overpowered my taste buds. So I will have to revisit to update my review. I am including a picture of thw menu as there is some discrepancy in the reviews about it. Some things are no longer offered. Decent pizza. I've had actual New York pizza and nothing in the springs touches it. But there are close-ish contenders. So far, I don't think its te best but im going to give it another chance. I recommend trying it for yourself. To be...
