Stratton's Independence Mine and Mill — Attraction in Colorado

Really beautiful quiet location. Lots of friendly wild life.(Please leave the animals alone) there is a Hiking Trail, no motor vehicles. There are tons of abandoned structures, something that can be a little spooky. If you travel to the bridge up by the mine, you can see a MASSIVE hole. There is an erie silence, no birds, no wind, just cows from the ranch across the street. Towards dusk you can hear...

It's an easy walk up to the base of the mine shaft and header. Er. That area is fenced off to keep people safe. It's fascinating to look over the old structure in the few mining relics that were there.
