Columbus Metropolitan Library: Southeast Branch — Attraction in Columbus

I'm giving this library 3 stars because of their staff. Staff is not helpful here. The lady, Christy, that does story time/ kids activities is super socially awkward around kids. I honestly think she has no experience with kids and not sure why they picked her to do it. I don't really think she even has the patience for kids nor likes working them much so we stopped going to their storytime/ ready for Pre-K classes there. On a different occasion my child had a meltdown while there. She was staring at my child with disgust like it's unknown to man kind for a toddler to throw a fit or cry. The other UNHELPFUL people at the front desk were also just staring. Instead of helping me check out my books so we could get out quickly, the all stared like we were aliens. I will say the play area for the kids is a good one that's why I gave this 3 stars instead of 1. But while we sat there as my child played, another kid was getting homework "help" from the librarian. The librarian asked what she (the child) was supposed to do on the assignment and the child didn't know, so the librarian responded, "welp just do whatever your teacher told you to do then". Such help. The book selection is ok and fairly easy...

Rude, power hungry security guard ( female, black ), manager on duty rude, disrespectful, wouldn't listen to my side of story. I walked in (white male), sat down in a chair, read a messenger newspaper. There were many people within 10 yards of me talking, moving tables and loud. Did I say anything? No..... . 10 minutes later they leave. Fine! I get on my phone, listened to post , security guard said to please turn it down. I did.... I asked her why she didn't approach the group (black) that was here previously about their loudness? Then some power hungry MOD approached the situation. Made up some kind of excuse there was no room for them. All the while my phone is off. I told the guard I did what she asked. I said she did her job, bothered me, and then she said I offended and disrespected her. Power hungry MOD told me to leave. As I walked out, I asked the front desk person, who has worked there for about six months if Iever disrespected her, she was silenced by MOD. Told them I'd never vote for another levy again for them. I don't usually give bad reviews, but this has to be the worst library in all of Columbus, it's a clean library and shelves stay neat. But the staff as a whole is absolutely horrible and rude. They are only friendly when it's convenient to them. There's a bad vibe I feel every time I step in there. You don't look at appearance when you're a librarian, you do your job and greet people with friendly respect at all times. I try to avoid this library at all cost. I always have a bad experience. None of them are genuine. They need to reevaluate that...
