This was the second time coming to this location. The first time we did the Scooby-Doo room. I actually liked the room and the experience, but there was a huge lag on the hints coming to the screen. Also in the room there are a few other things that give hints and clues that also had a lag. With it being a newer place we definitely wanted to show grace. They are probably still working out the bugs.
Fast-forward to this past weekend we went again and did Narco (about 1 and a half months after our first visit). Not only did the hints still come in slow once again. When we asked for a clue they were giving us clues to puzzles we had already completed. For example, we asked for a clue and they gave us the code to unlock one of the crates. At the point we had unlocked the crate and solved the puzzle after the crate. This happened several times not just once or twice.
When our game ended we asked if they are able to see us when giving clues to see where we are at. The staff member advised yes, so we started to explain what keep happening. His reply was "well I wasn't your game master" I just felt if I was in his shoes I would at least say something like I apologize I will make sure to take that concern to our management team or something on those line. It was strongly giving I could careless. If they can fix those two issues it would be the perfect place. The rooms are amazing minus those issues.
Update to review after attending on August 23rd.
I'm adding to the review as I believe in being as transparent as possible when doing an review. After posting this review, ai received a call from the business from a manager named Taylor. Who apologized for our experience and offered our party a free visit coved by the company to right the issues of the room. I asked how we would book that? She replied just call to book as the credit would be added to my account. I also asked would this be the 5 individuals who attended ? I asked this, because I wasn't expecting the business to even care about our experience, but i wanted to make sure everyone in my party could get this chance. I was told yes it covered all party members.
Now, fast forward to everyone being able to attend a the same day. It's five if us and we had to get our schedules together. I called to book the room and the gentleman I talked to was nice, professional, and honest. He told me the room was booked, but he didn't see the credit. He advised he would work on getting this corrected for us. I appreciate that fact he was straight forward and let me know. He told me once he got it together he would call me back. This was a week before our booking I talked to him. Since we booked for a Saturday and I had not received a call by that Wednesday I called to check. This is when I talked to Taylor again.
My experience with her this time was a complete 180 from the first time we talked. She was talking over me, cutting me off, and just nasty. I was so shocked by the way she talked to me that I even forgot all the questions I had. I just wanted to be off the phone. The conversation left me never wanting to go back EVER. Since this visit was going to be free and I didnt want to take that from the group. Plus, let me take advantage of free after all this stress. We went on the 23rd of August. I came in and this one lady that we saw the two times before came over to talk to us. I thought she was just a worker and when I say I love her energy. She rocks!!! Comes to find out she is the owner, and when she asked about out last experience. We told her it wasn't good she really listened to our issues. I felt heard amd like she really cared. The experience we had this day was beyond phenomenal. We cut up in a good way they whole time. I gave all this info to say even if you have a bad experience don't write off the place, because one person's kindness can make all the difference and the owner made the difference. I will be asking everyone I know to visit them and spend money with them. They even got the issues of the rooms fixed and it truly is the best...
Read moreTL;DR The room and props were cool, the puzzle somewhat sucked, the staff didn't sound informed, and it didn't feel professional
First time at this location. Family is in town for the holidays so we wanted to do something fun. We’ve played escape rooms in the past and enjoy the experience that comes along with them. We played the Scooby-Doo room and escaped with a few minutes to spare. It was a bit of a tight fit at the start with 5 adults. we kept bumping each other. Getting out was pretty cool, but there was a noticeable lack of attention to the customer's experience during our visit. We didn't feel too confident walking into the room due to how uninformed we were prior to the game, and the overall unenthusiastic interaction with the staff didn't really help us feel excited to play. The person who greeted us in the lobby didn't seem very professional, and he wasn't very enthusiastic when he was checking us in. He didn't sound fully informed about the room's content or story, and it would've been nice to get a small refresher before we entered the room. He was kind of all over the place when telling us about locks, but we didn't really get to see how the locks worked before we went in. He was very vague when he was giving us basic rules before the game, such as what not to touch, how to ask for hints, and where we could put our stuff.
When it comes to the room itself, you can tell that there's a great deal of effort that's put into the props and décor. As far as the room's gameplay, it was very nonlinear and difficult to stay on track. The ending was very anti-climatic and it was tough to follow a lot of the puzzles. The mission was unclear and a lot of the instructions for the puzzles just didn't make sense, especially for the final code. We didn't get clear and confident instructions on how to convey the final code to the game master. We weren't even sure that we had the final code until the game master had to tell us to yell it out loud. This might have led to the room lasting longer than it should have (add. 5 mins or so). Throughout the game it felt as though the game master was both inattentive and too attentive at the same time. They didn't seem like they were really paying attention to what we were doing or solving when we were in the room. They would give us partial hints for things that we had already completed when we didn't ask for them. They would also interrupt the flow of the game to say things that were unimportant to what we were doing at the time, such as “hurrryyy” or “you got this.” There would be a chime and then a text hint on a screen for us to read in another room. We could tell that they were trying to be supportive but it overall kept distracting us from what we were doing, as we would have to walk away from the current puzzle to see what they said.
Interacting with the lobby attendant after the game felt just as unenthusiastic as before. He mentioned that they don’t often see people get out of the room on their first try. For the post game photo, he didn't check to see if everyone's eyes were open before sending it. We should've asked him to take a photo with our cell phone too, but it would have been nice to have everyone's eyes open in the official photo...
Read moreHUGE waste of 80 dollars, we absolutely will NOT be back.
I took my fiancé to his first escape room today and we honestly had such a bad time. I hate that this was his first experience because I've had such fun with escape rooms in the past and Escapology didn't come close. We did the Scooby Doo themed one and had Maria take us to the room and get us started. We chose medium difficulty which was explained to us as being 3 free clues with unlimited clues afterwards that would add onto our time. We started off okay but within the first 10-15 minutes a DJ had set up in the sky lounge portion of the building and it was so incredibly loud. Playing music like Pony by Genuwine. We tried really hard not to let this ruin our time but the blaring music made it hard to hear eachother and hard to hear the clues given to us by the scooby gang. Additionally; we got stuck a few times and even though we verbally asked Maria for help or to use a clue and pushed the yellow clue button multiple times, we heard nothing in response and no clue popped up on the board. This happened a number of times and I don't know if our gamemaster was just not paying attention or if she couldn't hear us over the music. Surely though pressing the button would have been seen? I don't know but it was wildly frustrating and really took away from the experience. There was a prop (I won't specify to avoid spoilers to anyone who wants to so this) that we had apparently been doing correct but nothing was happening. We spent maybe 5 minutes troubleshooting this AND verbally asking for help AND pressing the button to finally by told to "try one more time" we did it as we had been doing it and it worked. I don't know if the prop was bugged, or what, but why were we again ignored when we asked for clarification or help?? We felt like our time was being wasted. We reached another prop that we were again asking for clarification on and we had only a few minutes left and no matter how we pressed the button or asked Maria for clarification we got no response. For the last two minutes we felt like we were just waiting for it to be over. We didn't hear anything from our gamemaster. A different employee came in and asked if we wanted to know anything about the room and explained some props and seemed nice. He asked if we had a good time and I politely told him unfortunately we didn't and shared our grievances. He told us unfortunately they can't control the volume of the DJ. And while I understand he can't control that, what about what was going on with our gamemaster being unresponsive? I don't know. I was frustrated and disappointed so we just thanked him, refused a picture, and went home.
Long story short; do not waste your time or your money with this place. If you plan to bring children, I'd call in advance and make sure they won't have the DJ on playing...
