I love the stuff you can get here that you can't get elsewhere, but I leave this store in a bad mood every. Single. Time. Items are only slightly more organized than what you would get if you used a random number generator to assign each item its place in the store. None of the staff will be able to help you unless you speak Spanish. We've found expired items still on the shelves a ton of times. Seriously, check expiration dates on EVERYTHING. I think they don't do any sort of FIFO/inventory. The lines move unbelievably slow. There are never enough cashiers working, and with how they do their inventory, it seems like SKUs have to be typed in by hand on almost everything. Once you finally get to a cashier, almost without exception, the cashiers are dead silent and will not talk to you or acknowledge that you are a human being beyond ringing your stuff up and taking your card. And finally, I know the quality of customers isn't a store's fault, and maybe this is just a symptom of being located on this stretch of Morse Rd, but the other customers are unbelievably rude and incapable of being in a public space without taking others' paths and personal space into consideration.
It's always an exhausting and unpleasant trip, but again, cool stuff you can't find in Kroger for making ethnic dishes, and the prices are pretty...
Read moreGigantic international grocery store. They lack some of the specificity of a store specializing in one cuisine (like Lotte for Korean) but cover a lot of bases. The organization can get a little weird with some aisles by country or region and some by product category, but don't hesitate to ask a team member for help as all the ones I've interacted with have been very friendly.
Also possibly the most comprehensive produce section I've ever seen: every imaginable type of yam, fruit, green, and chile pepper seems to be available here. They also have fresh ginseng and an entire cooler just dedicated to mushrooms. Also, most of the time, their standard scallion option is organic, even if it isn't advertised as such.
There is a gigantic section of the store past the normal grocery side where all the snack stuff is grouped together. Within that area, it is subdivided by country/region which works well. Don't get confused though and think all the pocky is going to be near the soy sauce just because they are both from Japan.
Rice is similarly organized by region that it is associated with. That means if you want Jasmine rice, it will be in several different places (Latin America, Thailand, Chinese, etc.) depending...
Read moreVery nice International grocery. A wide variety of fresh and packaged foods as well as some little restaurants inside. The day we went only one of the 4 restaurants inside was open. It was a Mexican tacqueria, the food was reasonably priced and delicious.
The grocery has an incredible fresh fish counter with a wide variety of fresh seafood. Meats were inexpensively priced. We didn't purchase any meat the day we went, so I can't speak to its quality.
They have a huge selection of hard to find produce, such as jackfruit and lychees. However, alot of the produce looked a little weary. We did purchase some stringless pole beans that were not the prettiest beans I've ever seen, but they tasted fantastic after we prepared them. These were the first "pole beans" I had ever seen that were stringless.
The prices were a bit steep for most of the packaged foods withe exception of Curry powder. They had many different Currys. We purchased a Madras Curry powder that was inexpensive and after cooking with it found it to...
