They do not actually fulfill their job obligations…so if you are rear ended and they are called to the scene but the other driver does not speak English, they will not file a report of the crash unless there are serious injuries. So my car was completely messed up and I just have to drive like that now because the cops told me that there was nothing they could do but give me a reference number. They let the other car just drive away. Insurance company actually laughed at the reference number. I had pictures with the other car, license plate, and cops even on scene but those were not accepted as proof (Geico). You need the report. A reference number Is not a thing. The cops just tell you it is because they don’t want you to be mad that they are screwing you. In my case, the cops didn’t want to call an interpreter (protocol) and cite the at fault driver because it was work. So the other driver without insurance got off completely free—not even a citation for his bad driving—because these police are lazy. A lot of good ppl exist there, but there are gatekeepers in leadership who control the amount of minorities who are hired. Picking excuses to exclude females and minorities while finding reasons to keep there white male relatives and buddies despite arrest records and documented proof of there bad judgements via drug use, fights,ect.
