I'm a Clinical Case Manager at a local rehab and took several of my clients after we saw the Saturday Immersed event on the Phoenix's website, endorsed as a sober event... It's my fault for not checking the reviews as the very first one displayed to me gave it 4 of 5 stars because "no one told me to take acid or mushrooms first." We weren't sure what to expect but we left about 15 minutes after the show started as every single person in our group of 3 felt triggered (one of those people has 6 years clean!) and uncomfortable. If you can just enjoy it for what it is, an art exhibit that felt to me like it was made by people on drugs for people on drugs - then I'm sure it's great. Very psychedelic, unique and cool. If you went expecting it to be a "sober event" as promoted, probably expect to be very confused about why they would advertise it as such.
Edit: I was surprised by the strong reaction to my feedback and the suggestion that I should "correct" my review. Reviews are meant to reflect personal experiences, and I stand by mine. I did not intend for it to be an attack, merely an observation based on the specific needs of the...
Read moreThis place is such a hidden gem in Denver. The art here has a deep and fascinating history, and the Tanners built a true legacy around it. You can see how spaces like Meow Wolf and other immersive art experiences owe some of their inspiration to what Lumonics has been doing for decades. Barry and Mark are doing a wonderful job keeping the spirit alive, not just through the shows but also by preserving the art through community classes. The whole space feels alive with color, history, and energy that is both meditative and electric. My only critique is the sound setup for the performance piece, which could use proper stereo imaging and subwoofers to make it even more immersive and impactful. Still, it is absolutely worth visiting for anyone interested in light art, meditation, or simply discovering one of Denver’s most underappreciated art...
Read moreThis is one of the most wonderful experiences I've had in a very long time. I've been clean and sober for a few years, and this was one of the funnest things I've done in sobriety. I went with my son (who is recently clean) and we both had a blast! We also both agreed that one doesn't need the enhancement of anything to enjoy the wonder of the show. I felt it was very special to learn the history of how everything started, and the people who pulled it all together. It's awesome to have met the staff as well. The only other thing I would have added, was to get up and dance a few times. We will be returning and bringing new people with us to enjoy the experience with. Thank you Lumonnics Light & Sound Gallery for making my life a little better for having had the opportunity to experience the...
