The sexism and discrimination that I’ve witnessed at the CCPAC, is abhorrent. Ironically enough, it was at the Mean Girls show where I witnessed the complete disregard and disrespect for female patrons (and I’m a dude). There was a line of at least 19 women for the restroom, whereas for the men’s room I was able to walk in and go straight to the urinal, in fact there was no one there at all. The architect, the planners, the founders, the county commissioners, and ultimately the building itself is sexist—sexist for creating restrooms equal in size and number of latrines for both sexes, even though the amount of time women need in a restroom is not equal to the amount men need. With women needing more time, they should have had restrooms designed that are larger than men’s. Also, the restrooms should have been designed even larger due to the fact that 75% of women make up the population of patrons visiting performance art centers, yet they have only been allocated 50% of the toilet facilities. Sexism, in my own backyard… at the theater no...
Read moreThis was my first time at the Columbia County Performing Arts center. It is beautiful. There is not a bad seat anywhere in this venue. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restrooms were clean and well cared for. The concert they put on (I was there to see the Purple XPerience- A Tribute to Prince) was beyond fantastic. I was a little disappointed that the only things they served were drinks (alcoholic and non) and snack items such as peanuts and chips. I came immediately from work and was hungry. I thought they would have some sort of food available for purchase but there was not. This did not deter my energy, love for the show, or appreciation of the venue. Also, I was surprised I was able to bring in a bag that was not a clear see through bag like most facilities are requiring. I will definitely be attending more shows at...
Read moreI called the box office about 30 min ago to order tickets for “The Thorn” performance on Tuesday, April 23 at 7 pm, a person answered the phone and advised me it I could pick up tickets M-Fri. She also told me I could order tickets on line and gave me their website 3 times. Unfortunately, I did. I just received confirmation and my order number… and was charged two separate fees for processing…the total price I was charged was $331. I called the box office to cancel and they don’t handle refunds or cancellations. She explained sometimes the web site goes to ticket sales and not to ticket master. I tried calling them at the ph number she gave me, and after many ph calls I hung up, called my bank and was advised to to cancel my credit card. I am not happy. .Beware. This happened...
