Requested a non-smoking room with a King bed. Made reservations weeks in an advance through a travel agency. The agent who helped me make the reservations told me to call 3 - 4 days ahead of time to ensure my request for a room with a king bed and not 2 queens would be fulfilled. I called, the worker told me that she couldn't hold that specific room and that it was first come first serve but she stated the manager might be able to. I ask to speak to the manager and when transferred, it went straight to voicemail. I left a message with my information and asked for a return call. No return call so I called back the next day and left another message, no return call so I tried again the next day, no return call. Guess she's a very busy person, maybe she needs help since she's too busy to return a paying customers phone call. I get to the hotel and surprise surprise, no king beds available. I ask for a strip side view and I get a mountain view with the strip far off in the corner to where I have to lean against the glass to see it. Oh, and let’s not overlook the big metal white bar outside my window obstructing my view, mind you I stayed for 9 days so I had to stare at this bar for 9 days. The front desk worker told me call down in 2 days around 12 noon about being moved from the room I'm currently in to a non-smoking king. I called 3 times starting at 10 Am - 2 Pm and was told no kings were available. I finally go down stairs in person and the guy at the front desk tells me he doesn't see were any kings will be available until after I check out. How convenient. I glance over and see someone who appears to be the very busy manager with a scowl on her face acting as if she didn't hear the conversation (I assume she was the manager because she was in a dress and not a uniform like everybody else). On day 3 of 9 of my stay they pull an At & t and slow down my internet access, oh but no worries, they gave me the option of increasing my speed with “enhanced” internet service for $ 10. What is the $ 16.95 resort fee for? I was using the internet to connect to my Xfinity stream and Netflix subscription in order to watch cable tv and movies because they do not have cable tv, they have analog channels meaning about a total of 25 channels which over half are news channels and the rest are useless unless you luck up and catch something on USA. Again, what is the ridiculous resort fee for? I've stayed at non resort hotels at a cheaper price with better cable and internet service. That's sad. Do not turn off your AC unit if you get cold, run it on auto, it takes the ac unit over 8 hours to go from 80 degrees to 72 even when set to On and Hi fan. I left it running for 24 hours set at 65 degrees, it never got below 70. Housekeeping were the only friendly staff here. They spoke every time they saw me in the halls and ask if I needed anything. Eastside Cannery has this policy were if you decline housekeeping services 2 days in a row, they will send security to your room to do a wellness check which would be nice and fine if security didn't come to my room beating on my door while I'm trying to sleep. You do know this was a vacation for me right? How about calling up to the room to see if I'm OK and if I don't respond after so many attempts, then send up security and if I do respond on the first attempt, inform me that security is on the way so that I don't have to jump out of bed and open the door because it sounded like security was about to kick the door down. Not from Vegas but next time I will work an extra month or two in order to save more money to get the real Vegas resort experience by staying in more popular hotel. I started to stay at a better known (and more expensive) hotel and wish I had, but you live and you learn. I did my research before staying here so not being on the strip wasn't a problem for me, it was the lack of customer service first and the final straw was them trying to charge me $ 10 more for decent internet speeds when you have to pay a $ 16.95 (tax included) resort fee that I still don't know...
Read moreI only visited the Casino once, in 2017, before Covid to try to cash an $1100 insurance check. It was non-payroll so, they didn't cash it & kinda gave me the brush off. I felt embarrassed and probably didn't eat there with the $15-$25 I had. It was kinda empty back in 2017. The main floor, Casino-area looked nice, not run-down. There might have been someone who asked me to give them money while I was leaving and I said I had like $18 until I could cash my check they wouldn't cash it and, that I was sorry.
I never saw the Eastside Cannery hotel rooms in person, however, I've seen them online.
I've read some reviews and it sounded like a 4 star place "that got ran into the ground" or that they had been renting down/uncleaned rooms out either by accident (3 stars) or on purpose (negative stars)? Either way its not good however, if that was on purpose...how many stars should it have(0)?
I think they give bad smoky, rooms to people on purpose.
People don't like the smoky rooms or smelling marijuanna in the hallways its that simple. They should have upgraded those people into a nice suite or pay for an adjacent property upgrade and transportation, to retain their business.
I don't agree with tearing down these giant Casinos and Hotels. I think the Casinos and Hotels should have been repurposed. So, far they have torn down both Texas Station and Fiesta Casinos. The area is kinda iffy and that's not going to change unless the people who are down on their luck and want help becoming gainfully employed that receive help. Instead of tearing it down or demolishing it. It should and could be converted into a non-smoking, homeless shelter and a work/rehabilitation facility the federal government provides money to each state for homeless shelters. I saw an ad for the Las Vegas Courtyard homeless services they don't call it a shelter because, it is not an enclosed building.
Why aren't these empty Hotels and Casinos repurposed as non-smoking homeless shelters and rehabs? They are big enough to help homeless people from other states. Why don't people seem to care? There are too many communicable air-borne diseases to allow smoking in homeless shelters..they banned alcohol because people were drinking themselves into comas out of despair...however if a homeless person was intoxicated upon intake..they should not be turned away..people get drunk in Vegas.
They should ban smoking and re-purpose Eastside Cannery and rename it the Las Vegas Salvation Army Homeless Shelter and Donation Center and Goodwill Donation Center repurpose it into both of those. It could be sustainable. They should offer jobs to homeless people that included sorting through donations and help making a free pantry with the food/bread donations.
Other cities Salvation Armies do that. Why aren't...
