It's a regional connector to nearby Green Line station via Long Beach platform route (Southbound). The Blue Line also connects to Downtown L.A. where you're able to connect to the Metro Purple and Red Lines. Yes, it may not be the most presentable train station nor is it the "safest," (well depending on your definition or context) especially for inexperienced folk.
