Harpers Ferry Koa overall is a great family camp ground!!! I have had so many great memories from each visit. There are some areas that could use some upgrades, but the pros of this campground definitely outweigh the cons. Pros! There are a lot of amenities! Some are included or at an additional cost. On one of our weekend stays they had a mini carnival theme. Other activities such as slime making, sand art and more. The staff was amazing with our kids. Jumping pillow Putt-Putt Playground Swimming Pool Indoor/Outdoor Basketball courts Pedal Karts $ Arcade $ Pool/ Air Hockey $ Movie Theater Community Fire pit Laundry Facility $ Large outdoor sink area There is a store that has a lot of neat stuff in there. Expensive, but convenient. There is also a Walmart not far from the camp ground. Right before coming in to the campground there is a house that has firewood for sale which was less expensive than in the store. Have cash with you as it’s just an honors system. I stayed in cabin KLO1 2 times. My group had 5 out of 6 of the luxury cabins and KLO1 was the best one. It seemed as you went down the line of them they were older and in need of maintenance. Still overall nice cabins. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything. We were definitely “glamping”. The cabins without all the amenities were used without the kids. If you want to be further away from all the amenities and something more private I enjoyed the rustic cabins nestled on a hill. If you have someone with mobility issues this area might not be the greatest. There are steps, but even with that it might be a challenge. I stayed in 3 different rustic cabins and each had things that should be replaced. One window unit was in really bad shape. The filter was filthy. The gap under the door was not comforting thinking of rodents coming under. Some had some cardboard to cover the gap. One cabin had stink bugs all over the place and dead ones on the curtains. So please keep in mind these are very rustic. I didn’t mind it so much because we were camping. We knew ahead of time it was a rustic cabin. They do have electricity and a window unit. So this leads me to the bathrooms. The first few times I was only aware of one bath house area. And they were okay. They didn’t get cleaned as much as I thought they should and I would grade them D to a C depending on the day. Now there is another set of bathrooms and this area I would give an A. They are very clean and once we found those I was very happy. I think they might be closed in the off-season or I just missed them. The pancake house we loved! Do not go off of the hours on their site. We also never once saw the grill area open in the arcade. We were staying off season though. When we did get to experience the pancake house it was VERY well priced and a great breakfast. The staff was absolutely amazing!!!! One lady just adored our kids and the first day we got there she said come see me tomorrow morning. We found out later her name was Tammy. My mother who passed over 10 years ago unexpectedly from a car accident was named Tammy. It warmed our hearts and made our trip. She was so sweet and kind and reminded us of our dear Loved one. Some people in this world are just the kindest souls you will ever meet. Most of the staff was. There were only a few not so pleasant. Early check in is advertised, but not really honored. But they did let us use some of the amenities and we were grateful about that. So on to the cons. I kind of mentioned them within the review. But overall this is a nice campground for families. Nearby is Harpers Ferry National Park. I also purchased our own tubes online and you can drop them in near some of the paid tubing programs and do it yourself. You can pay to park at a few of the places for $10. There is also an adventure park near for zip lining and more. This truly has been a great campground for my family. Thanks Harpers Ferry KoA for a great time and so many memories!

Where do I start. We've stayed at this campground at least 5 times in the past seven years all were amazing with the EXCEPTION of our most recent visit. Not sure if it's a change of ownership or management but it has definitely gone DOWNHILL and appears to be short staffed. We rented Cabin 129 (located in "the ditch") for our stay from Aug 3-8th. Our first night the fire alarm continuously went off. We went to the camp store first thing in am to have it fixed, took about three trips there to finally get the "battery changed". Thought we were in the clear, nope it helped for a few hours but then started back up again through out the SECOND NIGHT. Again back to the camp store, finally the fire alarm was replaced, but not without leaving us a step stool in case it started acting up again, SO WE COULD JUST "knock it off" since the ceilings are about 8' high. We were also told if it started back up just to remove the battery , my response was yea right and with my luck an actual fire will start. Either way that issue was FINALLY addressed and we were provided a 30% discount off our stay, which we felt "acceptable" at the time! Night three was "uneventful" and we were finally able to get sleep ON OUR OWN FULL SIZE MATTRESS that we brought with us since there's in these cabins are less then mediocre for someone with prior back surgeries. Here's where it gets even better. Night Four: about 10pm a torrential downpour occured completely FLOODING out our Cabin. Leaving our family in a flooded cabin with electrical things that we had brought plugged in posing a HUGE ELECTRICAL safety hazard. I called the emergency # and spoke with Jess whom advised that they would be MOVING us to Cabin 130 about 50'ft behind us. Here's where it gets interesting for these cabins you need to BRING YOUR OWN LINENS and we had our own mattress. So we were expected that during a TORRENTIAL downpour at 11pm (after quiet time) to be able to move our things, linens and mattress over to the other cabin! Absolutely NOT!! We requested to be able to go up and stay in a cabin that was already prepared with mattress and linens just for the NIGHT till we could figure out things in the AM and we're told NO with attitude from Jess because they were all rented out! We've been there now a few days and noted there were some that were clearly open!! If they were booked for the following day, management along with housekeeping could have addressed that since check in is NOT till 3pm. Since they were unable to accommodate, we eventually told Jess and Sandy for our families safety, we would be just leaving for the night to a HOTEL and we're met with attitude and a smart remark of "enjoy your hotel stay". FYI: Holiday Inn Express/Charlestown is extremely accommodating and Pet Friendly. We arrived back the following morning to assess and noted through the night the flooding continually got worse. After showing this to the GM Katie, we were met with the options of moving only to Cabin 130 and having the last two nights comped or just a refund for the last two nights of our trip. We opted to LEAVE the campground for this trip with the two night refund, no mention of any reimbursement for Hotel stay $130 in total Since arriving home and thinking more about how our vacation was basically RUINED and EXTREMELY UNSAFE at night times due to there facilities. We have since requested from them and KOA Corporate a FULL refund for our stay and a comped 5 Day vacation. Corporate has said that THIS KOA is Independently owned and we need to deal with them. At this time, (48 hours later) I'm still waiting on a response from THE CAMPGROUND THEMSELVES! In addition to all of this, the bathhouse closest to this cabin was continuously Dirty and LEFT without Toiletpaper in either stall overnight. The arcade games most are broken or a RIP OFF. Pros: Ladies at the Coffee Shop are extremely helpful. Susan at the Campstore is very nice. Pancake breakfast is worth the Money, Pool Area and golf cart trail that leads you to River Riders Adventures.

Stinky staff and extra "resort" fees for amenities you can't use including uninflated jump pillow, droopy volleyball net and boring mini golf course that has not been maintained or even cleaned off of debris. Well located near Harper's Ferry NHP but the "campground" is really just an overly dense parking lot. Tons of staff mostly standing around in store, outside on golf carts plus four guys "fixing" an outbuilding - well, one guy up on A-frame ladder doing something, three guys standing around below. My kids wanted to use the jump pillow. Not inflated/open so they asked at front desk. The staff said it'd be open tomorrow. We went back the next day, still not open. Asked again at front desk and dealt with Susan. Susan first had to check the schedule to see if it was staffed. Then suddenly she claimed "policy" changed that it had to be staffed so would only be open Fri/Sat/Sun. Sure, policy that neither she nor the staff member asked the prior day knew about. When we protested, Susan couldn't find the manager, Jessica, nor open the jump pillow and refused to refund my extra "resort" fees. She said we could use other items; no thank you. We left but confirmed that the website shows jump pillow is open every day Memorial Day to Labor Day. My kids went and asked again and were spoken down to by desk staff standing around doing nothing. When I showed up, that staff member backed off my kids but Susan emerged to "handle" us. Susan simply told us "no" again to any resolution, that Jessica would contact us later - maybe today or tomorrow. Susan then told us to leave the store. When asked about grounds for asking us to leave, Susan had none and backed off that pronouncement. Totally ridiculous! Photos: 1) Always deflated jump pillow, 2) Always droopy volleyball net, 3) One of many times we saw many staff just standing around doing nothing but they "didn't have staff" to open jump pillow as advertised, 4) campground is maybe 20% full yet they put us right on edge of an even clearer form of the parking lot that is this campground in a shallow spot that doesn't fit our car - we booked and paid for a full utility site of which they have plenty vacant our entire stay.

We just stayed at Harpers ferry Civil War Battlefields KOA in West virginia. I hate to say it but once again a KOA is disappointing and way to tight. We paid for a premium site and just barely would be able to open our awnings without hitting the camper next to us (if there was one there). As I step out of my door I am literally walking into the neighbors electrical and water hookup. On top of that, their sewer is located under a corner of our picnic table! On the off door side it's the exact same thing as you can see in the pictures. We can barely fit our truck on the site with us to boot! The fancy fire pit is pretty to look at but literally within just feet of the side of my camper! So either we don't burn it at all or we're going to have to keep it so low it will almost not be a fire! The young and obviously clueless lady at the check in desk sent us the wrong way to our campsite. After negotiating some very tight turns to get back to the office my wife went in and told her it was wrong since the site wasn't even in that loop. The girl insisted that was the way to get to our site. My wife was fed up and asked for someone to escort us to our campsite. Well imagine that, the girl sent us the wrong way after all! We have been pulling campers for 30 years and are in our 5th Year of full-time. Sadly, I truly have to say that I just don't like KOAs, and more often than not I am disappointed. In all those years I have only gone into a couple of them that are truly laid out nicely and truly big rig friendly. Sadly this is not the first of many times we have been in this situation with KOAs. Another first...we were charged an additional $16.00 for 2 dogs, as if the $82 dollars a night wasn't enough. Getting out of our pull through site was very interesting to say the least, boulders in the way, we decided to back out instead. If the place fills in at all, folks with a truly big rig are going to be in trouble.... 😢 On a positive note, the place is well maintained, has a pool, a dog park, playground for kids and a huge store.

Campground is showing its age. The outer road in the horseshoe area where our campsite was is very tight if you have a 37 foot+ fifth wheel pulled by a truck like I do. Just driving around the horseshoe without the camper I found myself up against the bushes. All of the sites very narrow. My site was really narrow. The neighbor’s patio is a couple feet from my slide out and the neighbors fire pit is 4 feet from my camper slide. That’s way too close to be starting a fire. The patio was broken because it had clearly been driven over multiple times. In order to get my camper steps on the patio so I didn’t have to step in the mud coming out of the camper I had to pull forward which left no room to park my truck. The site is Also on a hill, so my front jacks were extended, almost to the max. If you decide to camp in this campground, you need to make sure that you bring blocks for your jacks because you’re going to need them. Campground advertises full cable at every site. Our cable did not work. If you care about having high speed internet on the weekend then this campground isn’t for you. Every site is occupied and internet over cellular is worse than slow. My requests are timing out. So, the cellular network is undersized. And the campground Wi-Fi is the same. The maintenance guy actually said it is impossible to use on the weekend in the campground. Several campers had unruly dogs. Barking and lunging at me as I walked by. I saw 2 times loose dogs running around and their owners frantically trying to catch them. This is a dog owner problem for not training their dogs. And the campground looks the other way. What is interesting is that the registration desk provides a wrist strap to out on your dog’s collar that included the owners name and site number. So, they know getaway dogs are a problem. Will not be staying at this campground again. Based on the extremely unlevel and narrow sites with fire pits way too close to my camper. Plus this campground is very overpriced because its the only campground around for miles. Not recommended.

The park was easy to find. It is located at the same exit as Harper’s Ferry National Historical Park. There is pavement all the way including inside the park.. Signage is adequate. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic. The interior roads are in very good condition. Our site, 104, was a gravel back in that was just long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30/50 amp, water, sewer and cable) were to the left side. Distancing is close for a rural park. Our site (considered a deluxe patio but that is all that was available) was a graveled back in. It had a concrete patio, a swing bench, patio table with four chairs and a fire pit but no picnic table. It was flat and slightly sloped to the rear. Overall the park appeared to be well maintained but it would have been nice of the thick layer of leaves would have been raked or blown away before we arrived. We raked the site ourselves so as to not have our dog track them into the coach. There is park included wifi (5G) and cable TV. Satellite should not be difficult. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean. The Laundromat had many washers and driers out of order but we had no problem finding a working set. The pool and other amenities were closed for the season while we were there. There are trails from the park as well as bicycle rentals on site. An interesting feature is that the park encompasses part of the battle field. There are numerous markers showing points of interest. If you are looking for peace and quiet please be aware. This is a KOA and geared for youngsters and their partying parents. It did get quite loud in the evenings. There is a camp store on site but no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance. Just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be a good base for visiting local attractions but at $95.00 per night and we did not feel we received fair value. We would look for a quieter more economical location if we were to return.
