OMGOODNESS… what an amazing experience! My family of eight rented four of the glass boat, the bottom kayaks, and it was such a beautiful and special experience. We saw river otters, monkeys, alligators, fish, turtles, birds, snakes… and the water was just spectacular! Frank (the owner) was amazing to work with. He was so responsive and helpful throughout the entire process from booking to rescheduling because of weather closures, and even coming out and search for us after there was a pop-up, crazy storm that we got caught in. Frank and his team came and packed up the kayaks after the storm and walked them the rest of the way back to where they needed to be… that was such a huge help, after we had worked hard to scramble onto the banks to take cover from the storm. I would pay much more money to do this adventure again and again and again. It is sooooo worth it! We enjoyed ourselves so much! Silver Springs is one of the most beautiful places I have ever kayaked. This is a perfect family thing to do together. My husband and I brought our kids, ages, 17, 17, 15, 14, 12, and 5. all ages were thoroughly engrossed in the experience, the entire time… And I have not stopped talking about it since. I booked and paid for a reservation on August 12th, but upon arriving after a 2-hour drive, I discovered that my reservation had been canceled the night before. Despite understanding that issues can arise, the complete lack of communication from your company is unacceptable. I did not receive any call or email notifying me of the cancellation. We made multiple attempts to contact your company at the ramp and checked our email to confirm we were at the correct location. It was only after persistent calls that we were informed of the cancellation by a representative named Frank, who stated, “we emailed you.” Cancelling a reservation at 8 PM the night before without any notification is highly unprofessional. The company had all my contact information when the booking was made, yet no attempt was made to notify me of this critical change. I requested an email with details of the cancellation and refund information, and only then did I receive any form of communication. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. Silver Springs Run is an easy lazy beautiful paddle. Launch at the kayak rental stand and paddle about 5 miles to the Wayside takeout. If you paddle figure on 2 hrs. If you mostly drift with the current like we did, it's 4-5 hrs. (Not paddling is the river version of 'stop & smell the roses'.) Turtles, alligators, turtles, birds, turtles, fish, and turtles. If you want sun (aka sunburn) stay in the middle; tall trees on both sides offer shade except around noon. The river is great. I only marked 3 stars because of the boat rental. The sit-on-top kayaks are cheap: back support is too short to be comfortable, no seat padding (brought our own), no bungee straps to secure a dry bag, and - most significantly - my boat leaked. At launch a little water came up into the foot area, as expected. When I arrived at the takeout I was sitting in 5" water. No dry space at all inside where you sit.
