Sun Plaza Motel — Hotel in Ocala

THE STAFF WAS BEYOND RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL, the property looks nothing like the pictures they must've used AI or something. It's very run down/dirty more like a crack motel the rooms are disgusting and smelly after the Office Staff came off aggressive and started slamming things down on the desk and yelling at my Husband and I because we added our Kids to the stay(which originally we booked for 2 people, but since we reserved a room with 2 beds we decided to bring them too which when he arrived we stated that and was willing to pay any extra fees) but the way that the Staff became enraged and acting was very uncalled for and unprofessional she then told us if we didn't like their rules we could leave!!!! At the time we were very tired from traveling and just wanted to lay down so we still proceeded to check in, But after walking in and viewing the room I told my Husband that I didn't feel it was safe for us to stay their with the Lady"staff member" acting crazy and the room was dirty, smelly, unsanitary and a few broken/cracked worn items inside so instead of unloaded everything and the kids we decided to leave and find another Hotel so not only did we lose money on this hotel we were also extremely disrespected and the next morning when we arrived back for our "Refundable deposit" another staff member wouldn't open the door and only spoke to my husband thru the check in window (it was 9am broad daylight) so not sure why he had to do business thru an overnight window, but all in all thankfully we received at least our security deposit back even though I felt the whole thing shouldve been cancelled and refunded as soon as we saw the 1st red flag....... I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RAN DOWN RAGGEDY NO WATER IN THE POOL SHACK/MOTEL the RUDE STAFF IS ENOUGH TO...

The good: Budget friendly; while motel/ hotels double their prices around times of big events, (Daytona 500 in this case) this room was still $70. Also, our plans changed and we needed the room a couple days earlier, they had the availability & switched it for us, hassle free. THE BEDS are amazing! The sign says "best beds in town", they mean it! The beds alone make this motel worth it. They also have a free light breakfast, consisting of bagels, cereal, coffee, orange juice, etc from 7am-9am. We've not had any issues with hearing neighbors through the walls or anything! Flat screen Samsung TVs in all the rooms, and unlike a previous review, there are definitely more than one channel. The original room we were put in, there was an issue with the TV box, we were only getting one channel. We brought it to the attention of the office, instead of whining about it on here, and had the problem dealt with. Mini fridge is cold & AC will freeze you if you let it. Lighting in the room is nice, lamps are easy & simple to use. The bad: Slightly outdated, yes. But taken care of. Bathrooms are pretty small which is probably my most disliked thing, I would've like to take a bath. These rooms only have showers. The ugly: Slight gap under the door, could let in bugs, heat, etc. Unlike most motels, the rooms are not fully carpeted. The carpet in these rooms is pretty rough, another thing I'm not fond of. Also, due to the age of this motel, not all of the wall outlets work.

We would definitely stay here again & probably will...

This is a horrible place. I would of made my review sooner but my account with my CC company was in dispute and after 105 days, I lost the claim. So do not use AMEX to reserve hotel rooms b/c they do not care either, if the room is pathetic, disgusting, dirty and in an unsafe place in Ocala! The grounds are a junk yard. The room was dirty, stained, repairs were pasted together with spackle. The spackle container was left in the room actually, the shower was filthy and there is no morning breakfast. This place was so shady, do not fall for the prices or the pictures on this website, they are FAKE. That place looks nothing like its advertised. Magneson Hotel chain takes no responsibility for their partner hotels. This was the main reason I booked because I know the Magneson Brand and I was happy with them in Tampa. Any way, the manager will not work with you. The steal your money and when you try to leave they refuse to cancel your reservation. Booking.com and Trip Advisor were no help either. I am sorry but between all three of these companies and the compliant was reported within in 15 minutes of check in, one of them should of just charged back the funds and Magneson should remove their name from this partner. You best to just pay a few bucks more and stay in a better place NORTH of this place - go further North above 45th and so on. Go to a Holiday Inn or another chain.
