Wanted to take the time today to give a well deserving review for Majesty African Market after coming across a toxic customer that I’m sure will hop on here to give a negative review from what I witnessed today while purchasing groceries before a 6hr trip home to celebrate my dads birthday.
This grocery store is such a privilege for myself and anyone else curious to try out African culture/cuisine ingredients in Sacramento!
While very fortunate to be able to utilize their services and not have to ship from L.A, I stopped by to pick up some goods around 345PM on August 31st 2023, before starting my road trip towards my hometown as I mentioned.
As I entered the store, this lady walked in afterwards and immediately went to grab frozen items from the stores freezer and dumped them all on the owners marble counter without considering using the carts they provided. Seeing that puzzled me on her lack for contaminating the space we all share. Not to mention that she didn’t even close the freezer door. Her excuse for doing so was because her hands were full (face palm)… I mean.. she could have used her elbows or grab a cart in the first place but that’s just a lot of work for some, I’m sure..
When the store owners kindly asked her to remove the items and place them in the cart so other customers can take precedence as needed, she revolted and went into a rampage (not letting anyone finish their sentence or speak). She even questioned my gender stating that “I’m not a man” because I didn’t defend her lack of respect for someone’s business.
Anyway, this is unfortunate to see and I’m glad they have cameras to back the type of trash they probably see on a daily. I’m looking forward to seeing this ladies review because of what she promised to post as I’m a witness to how terrible her personality was to the owners trying to reason with her. They were even nice enough to let her complete her purchase. I would have rejected her business just from how badly she disrespected the owners.
This store has thrived through the Covid times and everyone that has shipped there while I came in complied to the rules and engaged with the owners positively. Again, huge respect for the owners for dealing with her in such as...
Read moreIf I could give these people 0 stars, I would. I was so excited to see an African store after living in Sacramento for 4 years. I usually just buy my food items from the Bay Area where I’m from, from family when they come from back home, or from others who have stores in their area. I was greeted by a seemingly lovely woman who asked if I needed assistance. I was on the phone with my mother who wanted specific items. I did not know I wasn’t able to take pictures, I took one photo and sent it to my mother because I wasn’t sure if it was what she wanted. The woman met me and told me “no photos.” I respected her wish, said “ok, no worries” and returned to my call. My phone was still in my hands, but I didn’t think anything of it as I continued shopping. She meets me again, yells at me and says “I told you no photos,” snatches the item from my hands, and puts it back on the shelf as I’m trying to show her my phone so she knows that I didn’t take another photo. My mom heard what happened and told me to put everything back and leave. As I was leaving, I said “excuse me”—she didn’t even look my way—I told her I put everything back and won’t be going back again and she said “ok” lol this was the worst experience and worst customer service ever! These people are horrible and classless, and need to go to customer service training. She was unprofessional and does not know how to...
Read moreA few months ago I entered with ny husband Hispanic and 4 year old daughter. Excited finally i caught open . We entered everything was fine let them know first time inside . I was happy they let us browse . Definitely wanted to come back today .. not the same energy alone as I started to browse , they both asked me what i was looking for. Just looking, just got out the apartment. Well then she proceeds to say if you have no intentions we just dont let people look around. 👀 Wow then behind her i seen the soap, and scrub i needed for my son was asking for. Its a different intention with others but even you may look the same their hearts are not. Glad I left, but its not a good feeling when you respect others cultures when its prejudice behavior with everything going on today. Obviously it's taught . Wow . It really broke my heart but God lead me to scripture to show me how broken people truly are today. Thank you for products . But anyone not from this establishments country do not waste your time unless 'intentions" to buy what you need . Hopefully its a learning experience to be more open to others but hey refuse the right of service they profile you . Definitely will go to south Sacramento or bay area or purchase...
