We have a truck camper so have a relatively small footprint. The first site we were assigned had a pickup parked in it so we asked to be relocated rather than try to find the truck's owner. They put is in #61. Large mostly level site with full hookups (though the sewer was literally just covered with a rock) and they told us the cable for this site wasn't working (we didn't care, we never watch TV while camping). They did let us know as we checked in that the wi-fi could be 'spotty' and we couldn't get any signal at all. No firepits but you could borrow one if you wanted. One of our neighbors did. || Very quiet at night. Slept great both nights (Fri & Sat).||||#61 has it's own path to the trail to Columbia and the table is in the shade all day. The rest of the site has no shade but with our rear awning we were able to back up to the trees and had shade all day.||||I used the pool. It was refreshing. A small lean-to with 4-5 chaise loungers in the shade and a picnic table with umbrella allowed for plenty of shade. Good place to meet others staying at the campground.||||1/4 mile walk to the Columbia State Park and plenty of restaurants (I reviewed El Jardin - pet friendly, and City Hotel Restaurant), shops and saloons (beer and wine only except for the What Cheer Saloon which has cocktails). Watch out for poison oak just off the trail though. If you stay on trail no problem. And the trail from the RV park goes onto the Stage Coach road so if you time it right you can watch them go by as you're walking to town.||||Would stay here again. Easy drive to Sonora, Murphys,...
Read moreI had read lots of reviews about Marble Quarry Rv park. Wasn't sure I wanted to stay here but so glad we did. It was a very quiet weekend with a few people in Friday night and out Sunday (like us). Their are a few permanent travelers that live there, but all were so kind and friendly to us. I would not say the place is run down like I had read, I would call it more of a rustic camping area. The pool was closed up because it is winter time, understandable. The front desk lady, Joan was very helpful. ||||I do believe that in the summer time the camp grounds would be consider "close" together. There is no space in between sites. I would not like to have people right on top of me but for others they wont mind it. Since we visited in the winter we had that place to ourselves pretty much. The weather was amazing... nice crisp mornings with it warming up when the sun came up over the trees. ||||My favorite part of the Rv park is that you can take a hiking trail over to the old mining town of Columbia. Its only 1/4 of a mile with easy walking. We got very lucky that when we visited they were having "A Miners Christmas" that weekend. People were dressed in old clothes, roasting chestnuts over a open fire and father Christmas was there. I would check out the state parks schedule and see if the have anything when you plan to visit. We also found a trail off to the left of the park that went into so some really cool rock formations.||||We didn't have a toad with us but there is a town of things to do within driving distance to...
Read moreMarble Quarry park is beautifully situated. The sites are in a lovely little tree- lined valley, it's a short walk down to the historic town of Colombia, and not far from Sonora. We enjoyed our few days there very much, but it could have been so much better. While the reception and information from the lady manager was great, the park itself is pretty run down. Grounds a bit scruffy, ablution block getting to the stage that you don't want to use it, there 's just a dilapidated air. ||||Would we recommend it? Hard to,say. The walking access to Colombia means that you can wander down to town and enjoy a meal and a beer, or even better a show by the fabulous Sierra Repetory Players, and stagger back up the hill without fear. If you're fully independent you wouldn't worry about the toilet / shower block, but if not you'd have to think...
