Michaels visit ended up with my crying in my car on my birthday.
I wanted to buy Prismacolor colored pens for almost a year now. I just never convinced myself such an expensive brand of pencil was worth the purchase and kept pushing it back for more practical things.
Today was my birthday. It’s my first birthday after my best friend passed away so it was a hard day to face the reality that I am getting older and my best friend will stay the same age. We loved to color together so I figured I had a bad birthday I might as well treat myself to the colored pencil set I always wanted in her memory.
I made my way to the color pencil aisle and saw that they had a lot of empty shelves with the brand and the ones that did have pencils hanging down were locked up in anti-theft gear. The empty rails had stickers saying to ask for assistance or go to the front desk for help with the product so I did just that.
I saw a woman at the first cashier and simply went up to her. “Hello, I was hoping you could help me find out if you had this product in stock?”
I have a privacy screen so I made sure to hold up the phone in a way that she could clearly see the brand name. We had a counter separating us so I didn’t think my distance from my phone to her face was in any way inappropriate.
She clearly thought so, “First get your phone out of my face.” Were her first words to me. It honestly caught me by surprise and I was too shocked to even really say anything.
I honestly should have just walked out after she said that but I stayed and tried to see if they did have my pencils.
I was still holding the phone up but at a lower position now because of her words in case she wanted to look at the name and copy it down on her work phone since it isn’t an easy brand name to sound out on words alone.
I still had to spell it out for her and she did see the brand in store just did scroll down enough to see if they had the particular set I wanted. So I looked it up myself on the Micheal’s store website and saw the product for sale on the site but I was unable to find the number she wanted me to provide.
She tried to say someone called out so she can’t leave the cashier which I completely understand. She told me if she had a number she could look it up.
So I went back to the aisle while there and honestly I didn’t see set I count I had wanted but I’m honestly glad I didn’t.
Ever since the first words out of her mouth I felt unwelcome and on the verge of tears. So I simply walked out of the store and went to go cry in my car.
I won’t be shopping here again and I hope she learns to treat...
Read moreFool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, you know the rest. DO NOT, under any circumstance trust this location of Michael's for your framing needs! I've used this location twice in the last several months and in both occasions I've been burned. In the first instance, the framing order wound up being a month late due to the shop discovering late in the process that the frame they needed was out of stock. No biggie, right, these things happen.....
In the second and most recent occasion, I'm left feeling angry. I placed what should have been a simple order for a matte to fit an existing frame. My wife (with baby in tow) went to the location to pick up the order a few weeks after the promised date. She waited twenty minutes while they rummaged in the back looking for the order. They eventually emerge and told her that the order had never been placed and that it would be expedited. I get a follow up call from the Manager Khalid a week later asking me about the details of the order. When I explain our recent troubles with this location, he agrees that it's not acceptable and says ALL charges will be comped by them and that the order should be ready in the next week. Fast forward another week, Khalid calls and says the matte is ready and again says the order will be comped. You know where this is going, huh? My wife goes in to pick up the matte today and the staff argues with her that it won't be comped. They call Khalid who's off and he says that he agreed to comp the expedited shipping (ha), not the cost of the matte (which is now a month and a half late due to their mistake). You have to be kidding me!! This is the worst customer service I've experienced since living in NoVA 10 years now. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
FYI: I've used the Michael's location at Seven Corners many times in the past and have always been pleased. While it's a longer drive, I'll be going there in the future for our...
Read moreI love Michaels, but some of the staff in this particular location will NEED TO improve their CUSTOMER SERVICE! While I have dealt with some pleasant employees in this store in the past, I cannot say the same for one of my recent interactions. The woman must have been a manager or a supervisor, because another employee was asking her for authorization! Michael’s should really have their staff members wear NAME TAGS so we the customers know who we are dealing with! I specifically looked for a name tag, and there wasn’t one! But this woman was down right rude and speaking to me with a bad attitude! Not really trying to resolve the situation. Also, it didn’t seem she knew how to operate the POS/Register well, as she had hard time pulling my receipt and /or using the bar code to do so, since according to her own words, the receipt wasn’t scannable and wasn’t pulling in the system… while clearly the receipt was not yet expired and it was physically present in front of her. This person seemed more interested in arguing than resolving the situation and her attitude was absolutely unacceptable! I do hope Michael’s does a better job training their employees and having them...
