I've been shopping here for nearly 11 years, I prefer to come here because I live in spring and although I could go to Bellaire where there seems to be tons of these types of these types of stores, they stay down here more frequently than doing the 30-minute commute. I will say that the quality of product is generally the same except maybe in the realm of the fish market, I like the 99 ranch for that one., the prices are a little higher than places like HEB in some ways. However, in many of the ways that I shop there, they are actually less expensive. The only things I would say is the papaya and mango are mad expensive in comparison. I struggle with the smells inside, but overall it's a very clean place. I can do a fast turnaround and under 5 minutes if I know what I want, and there's normally several checkouts open at the same time. Which I believe are made in house. They also have a great aisle, specifically dedicated to different types of rice's which is kind of a big deal for me. And their tea aisle is one of the best in this general area. I will forever continue to come here, and I recommend it to others as well. I love their snack aisle. If you like savory snacks there is a ton of that as well as sweet treats. And if for some reason you can't read the label, look it up online LOL. Overall great experience, conveniently located, lots of variety, and...
Read moreI've shopped at the Hong Kong Food Market on Veteran's Memorial in North West Houston for years. Seval months ago the stench of fish in the back of the store hit you like a brick wall before you actually in the store. Last Wednesday I was in the store less than a minute and I noticed I couldn't smell the fish and it was FREEZING cold. It was so cold I had to get our jackets out of our vehicle. The employees were rude and the store wasn't very clean as usual. When we got to the frozen foods the stench of something decaying was so bad the person I was shopping with had to leave. This location was out of or no longer carries one of the items I can only find in Asian Markets. We both had carefully selected produce items from among the questionable looking produce available. After putting the away the groceries we bought we found that most of the produce was rotting from the inside out. Our "day" trip turned out to be a waste of time and money. The health department needs to shut this place down. The only positive was that there was plenty of toilet paper in the filthy women's bathroom. I'll be contacting the health...
Read moreIf you are looking for an extremely good variety of fresh produce this is excellent. Clean, smell to s fresh, looks amazing, extremely reasonable prices. Dry goods are okay, prices and selection are okay. I should not find what I wanted, but store is fully stocked. Fish, well they have them, a vast variety, prices are aligned with the selection. I am just not a fan of the smell, some of the fish are still alive in tanks, some on ice. It is not the fresh sea smell but more of a caught last week smell.
The beef / chicken selection is limited but they will go in the back if you ask for more. The prices for beef used to be amazingly affordable, but current prices are more boutique than mega box stores.
The pallets of bulk rice are about $1/lb which is less than some stores with better variety of speciality brands, but twice the price for membership warehouse.
Check out was easy, fast...
