Shane has a passion for what he does. My wife & I talked with him after the tour ended and we could hear his passion in his voice. He has a love for wildlife & nature that is hard to find. He knows all the hot spots to see wildlife. We were never disappointed. We saw everything that their website said we would. Our experience exceeded the website description. I would highly recommend the 90 minute tour. We didn't want the tour to end after 90 minutes. I just can't express enough at what a wonderful experience my wife & I had. Weather was perfect too. We took our tour on March 8th, 2025. We were Shane Dobbins first tour of the morning with only my wife & me along with another couple. My wife, kids, and I were recently on a theme park vacation in Orlando and decided to take a day of rest from theme parks and try a different activity for a change of pace. We decided since we were in Florida, why not do a swamp boat tour/ride. After much searching for a good company to book with, we found Spirit of the Swamp at the end of our search. I was very happy with the price and the fact that it was a personal airboat large enough for the 4 of us (though it could seat 6 to 8 comfortably). We were given instructions on where to go to meet our guide, Capt. Shane. We then proceeded to embark on one of the best experiences of our vacation and one of the most fun and interesting activities I've ever done on any vacation! This company is awesome! Capt. Shane was very knowledgeable about the region and the lake we were on, Lake Tohopekaliga. And you could tell how much he loved his job. Shane knew exactly where to find multiple alligators, including a mother and babies. We saw lots of water foul, including a beautiful bald eagle. So to sum everything up, go with this company! Absolutely enjoyable adventure. We've lived in Central Florida for 20 plus years and never done an airboat tour. So we got our tourist on! We booked the 60 min tour. During our adventure we saw lots of different species of birds, lots of neat Cyprus trees, and lots of plant life.

We saw quite a few alligators, a couple alligator nests-- which were really cool to see! We'd never seen any gator nests nefore. We even had an alligator hiss at us! That was fun!

Our tour guide said that if the gator jumps in the boat to lift our feet up. I'm not sure if he was joking or giving us a heads up, but I loved it either way.

Sadly, the gator never jumped in our boat.

Definitely worth doing and I definitely would do this again.

I do think when we go next time I'd either do earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon.

I liked that the boats had awnings. It definitely helped with the sun and heat.

The ear protection was wonderful. It protected your ears against the loud fan motor and also allowed you to communicate with the boat operator as well as other people in the boat.
