This place is so peaceful once you enter the gates. As other people have said, the traffic and construction leading up to Shady Creek is INSANE!! Itâs obvious the area is booming. Nice paved park, spaces are a good distance apart, every space has nicely kept grass and a concrete pad. Easy to access hookups. Clean laundry and bathrooms. The laundry room is a bit awkward if anyone else is in thereâŠ.. itâs just narrow, so thereâs constant âexcuse me, sorryâ. Workout room is adequate. Putting green, Pickle ball and basketball are great! Pool and patio surrounding it is really lovely, but the pool itself is so COLD!! I wish it would have been heated just a bit or maybe if it was covered at night it would help? I couldnât even enjoy it on the 97 degree day because it was so frigid!! Office/lounge area is great and they have mail and packages well organized. They announce âcoffee and pastriesâ on Saturday mornings, but itâs not pastries, itâs donut holes in a plastic container, instant oatmeal and pop tarts. Would be better to just say breakfast!! One other negative would be the amount of sirens we heard day and night. However, I would definitely go back if in the areaâŠ.. fantastic park! Oh, another thing is that if you have a large dog itâs better to walk on the sidewalk outside the park since the dog area is definitely...
Read moreWeâve lived on the Retreat side for 5 months thus far. We moved over from the âoldâ side after being there for 9 months. Overall, weâve had a great experience. They do a great job with keeping the park clean and enforcing the rules. The clubhouse is very nice and well appointed, and we look forward to using the pool this summer.
If thereâs room for improvement, it would be in two areas - upgrade the gravel sites and poor cellular internet. They put so much effort, money and planning into the park but failed to go the extra step to put in nice, level concrete sites. The gravel is okay, but water erosion and settling starts to become an issue over a short period of time. All of the roads and patios are concrete, but the sites are gravel and arenât level making it sub-par as a DFW area luxury RV park in my opinion. Also, the cellular internet is very poor. In all fairness, this isnât the parkâs fault. Thereâs a lot of new home construction in the area, plus with all of the RVs, thereâs just not enough towers to support the growth. The park does offer very good free and paid WiFi as an alternative. The free is great for checking email and browsing, but youâll need to upgrade to the paid option if you...
Read moreThis is a brand new addition to the Shady Creek RV Park and Storage location which is separated by Fish Trap Road.
NOTE: As of Sept 2021, check-in was still at the main front office off of FM 1385. Go up there and they will lead you through the older park to your spot across Fish Trap Road.
We appreciated the concrete interior roads and nice looking pool/BBQ area. Sites are nicely spaced with packed gravel, concrete patios and grass between sites. It is in a fairly quiet residential area near many convenient restaurants and shopping.
Have stayed at the old Shady Creek many times over the past 10 years and we were excited about THE RETREAT. It, too, already appears to be home to many permanent residents. Sites still seem well kept; however, the advertising seems to conflict with what we expected of The Retreat. It is in a great location for North Texas activities and UNT Football. Who wouldnât want to live hereâŠ
Because of itâs location and great staff, we will...
