Therapy IV is for the REAL fishermen out there. They are the "Seal Team 6" of Miami sport fishing charters. I fished with Therapy IV a few years ago after coming back from a cruise. All that was available and worked with my schedule was a shared charter with a father, his daughter and son (his kids were late teens early twenties).
I've been fishing my whole life around the world. It's my favorite thing to do. I always make sure to write reviews when I work with an outstanding outfit and I dropped the ball on this. It was an accident. I never left a review because I couldn't remember the name of your charter to save my life and I lost my hard drive where I had the footage. Today, I found that hard drive.
I'm not exactly sure exactly when it was because the time stamps are corrupted. I am pretty sure it was April. Somehow the crew managed to get us a large and hungry school of dolphin/mahi/dorado in APRIL!
If the same captain and crew who were on the boat that day years ago are still there they will absolutely remember this trip. Why? Well, as I mentioned, we hooked into a school of voraciously hungry mahi. This troublesome triad of first time rookies all simultaneously got sick as can be from water that was a bit choppy. I think it's possible they weren't used to seeing all the blood so forth. I didn't think it was bad at all compared to the real chop you get on offshore trips. The whole experience was foreign to this family.
The mahi grabbed every line that was in the water at about the same time. These poor clients not only had no clue what to do once the fish were on but as the dad started reeling in the first fish he just puked all over the pristine deck and then DROPS the rod! All of this happened so fast. I turn around and the daughter is puking her guts out over the side of the boat. I knew this was going to be a frustrating situation...and it was but at the end of the day it was a blast. People, if you get sea sick, or don't know if you get sea sick PLEASE don't go out on a deep sea fishing trip! We ended up having to come back in early because the other guests were so ill. As a paying customer (and fishing fanatic) I want my day on the water. Yet, Therapy IV did a GREAT JOB handling the whole thing.
The father was begging the captain to turn the boat around. The captain is definitely a very authoritative alpha male type. He wasn't having it in and to be fair, he said to the guy "sir, with all due respect, we have another passenger on this boat who wants to be here, who paid to be here, we can't turn around because you're all feeling sick."
Alas they were SO SICK, that they were starting to wreck the boat because they wanted to go inside to vomit. I think that is what broke the camels back. The cap and one crew and I managed to get these fish in the boat over about 30 minutes before we had to call it quits. We lost more than we caught. It was dangerous because the father and daughter were leaning over the side in the chop. At one point I was holding the father's belt buckle with my right hand and had a rod in my arm with a horse of a mahi pulling drag.
At the end of the day, as you can see we caught plenty of fish despite the chaos. Therapy IV handled it brilliantly. The family was lovely. I just couldn't help but wonder "how did this happen!? How can 3 people from the same family of different ages not know they get terribly sea sick!?"
It's such a shame that in the fantastic chaos that ensued I dropped my go pro screen down. It would have made a hell of a YouTube video but I would NEVER shame people like that. I captured the beginning of the fantastic 'clusterPuck' unfolding (which was the moment the fish hit).
Thank you for an outstanding day on the water! I'll see you next time...
Read moreHad booked with my family for an evening trip 1-5 With Capt. Mike and Capt. James. They were very welcoming and knowledgeable, enjoyed their work because they love being on the water with tight lines!
At the start I jokingly asked Capt. Mike if we could rig up some Bonita for sharks if we happened to catch any and he jokingly looked and me and asked if I thought he was an amateur. He showed me his coolers of bait, live and dead (including Bonita) and asked what we wanted to catch so I told him a Hammerhead.
We didn’t get a whole lot of bites that day but we got two good keeper KING MACKEREL (about 38inch and 36inch) and an undersized one that we released. Once we had secured a good amount of fish they rigged up the Bonita Capt. Mike showed me and within 15 minutes we had a fish on! I know Capt. Mike didn’t dive in a slap a hook in a Hammerhead for me but it was exactly what I asked for, we hooked up on a 7ish foot Scalloped Hammerhead! It was a crazy 1-1.5 hour fight that My dad, brother and I rotated in the hot seat to bring the fish up for a few photos and let her back out.
Boy was that an experience! You can’t always go out and catch limit but to catch enough to feed 6 people a few dinners AND to reel in that BEAUTIFUL Hammerhead was blessing, especially with Captains Mike and James knowledge, service and banter.
All around 5 stars service, hospitality and fishing!! Would HIGHLY recommend you consider Therapy IV for your...

My husband and I took our 10 yr old grandson on a ½ day charter and when our grandson heard I was going to write a review – he said I needed to give it 15 stars – 5 from me, 5 from my husband, and 5 from him. So consider this a 15 star review.
What a wonderful day we had! We are locals and own a couple of boats, but we are terrible fishermen so we wanted to go with the experts as our grandson has a new found love of fishing. We have charted around the world and knew what we were looking for in a boat charter – and Therapy IV did not disappoint. It was roomy, well setup for fishing and the interior had AC if you needed to cool off. What made the day so special was the crew – I call them the two Mikes. Captain Mike and Master Fisherman Mike. They understood that this was a day we wanted for our grandson and made it all about him. He caught all the fish and the crew made it so very special. In addition to sharing their love of fishing with our grandson, they were excellent boaters and it made for a very pleasant ride.
Upon our return, we met Captain Stan, the owner and he was so very friendly – to fileting our catch and telling us the best way to enjoy the Wahoo. I can’t recommend them enough and am confident we’ll do this...
