Trailer Village RV Park — Attraction in Tuba City

We absolutely loved staying at Trailer Village June 16-20, 2024. Being right in the middle of the action was wonderful. We used the shuttle system everywhere and it was so easy. We never had to drive our pickup after we checked in until the morning we checked out.

The views were so beautiful. The sunsets were awesome and the signs that help you to know which points are good for which views were so helpful.

There were elk in the campground every day. So cool!! (Be sure to use a disinfectant wipe on your spigot before hooking up your water hose because the elk drink the drips from the spigots. But we do that at every campground so this one is no different.)

Taking walks was fun because we were so close to everything. The shuttle stop was just a few steps from our site.

The only bad thing was the power situation. Even though we booked our site 13 months in advance, I didn’t realize we would need to book first thing that morning so I waited till after work. All the sites on the new half were taken so we were in the old part. I didn’t care because it has full hookups and is still pretty.

But the day before we checked out of Trailer Village, the voltage kept going too low and our surge protector shut off the power to our RV over and over again. I am not exaggerating when I say 30-40 times. We kept the air conditioner off because we didn’t want the power to come back on with the air conditioners on because that’s hard on the RV. So it was uncomfortably hot during those hours.

We called and they sent someone out who didn’t even look in the box. Just told us there was nothing he could do because that side of the park was built in the 50s and there wasn’t enough electrical power and they wouldn’t upgrade it. He left and the power kept shutting off even more. Several people were having the same problem.

My husband called because he is an electrician and he said the first guy didn’t even open the box. My husband said someone needed to at least check the connections. This time an electrician was sent who was very nice and actually cleaned the connections and we had fewer problems after that (but still some).

They offered to move us to a different site. We said no because we were leaving the next day. But it took several hours of our time staying around the RV waiting on the electrician because so many people were having problems.

So my advice is to book 13 months in advance at the very moment reservations open so that you get a site in the newer half. Don’t stay in the older half.

Other than the power, our 35th anniversary trip...

We stayed at this park from March 26 through April 9, 2023. We did experience some snow fall during our stay, and thankfully we had our heated hoses, as we did encounter some neighbors that were unprepared and had frozen hoses and pipes.

We booked our site online. They don’t give you a site number until you arrive at the park. The staff members were friendly and accommodating, providing helpful information about the area's attractions, and ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process.

We ended up with site H-47, a pull through with full hook-ups, that was a bit snug to our neighboring RVers on either side. A bit more space between them would have been appreciated for added privacy. We had thought about requesting a different site, but decided we would make it work. On the plus side we didn’t have any trees that would block our Starlink from being able to connect.

The RV Park offers a range of amenities to make your stay comfortable. Full hook-ups, including water, electricity, and sewer, ensure you have everything you need. There is a laundry facility to keep your clothes fresh. While there isn't a dedicated dog park, the surrounding area provides ample opportunities for exploration. It's worth noting that the trash bins along the streets tend to overflow on weekends, a minor inconvenience stemming from the park's popularity. There's also a general store nearby where you can stock up on essentials if needed. Keep in mind that it's located in a national park, so it's not a five-star resort.

Given the unbeatable location and proximity to the Grand Canyon, the pricing was reasonable. However, it's important to note that you're essentially paying for the privilege of being within the national park. The value lies in the unique experience of being so close to one of the world's natural wonders.

The sunrises and sunsets at this location are truly mesmerizing, casting a spellbinding beauty over the landscape. Stargazing here is an absolute must, with the unspoiled night skies offering a breathtaking celestial spectacle.

During our stay, we were treated to numerous wildlife visits, which added a delightful dimension to our experience. The presence of wildlife truly enriched our visit and provided memorable encounters with the natural world.

If the opportunity arises in the future for us to revisit, there's no doubt that we would choose to...

I booked our campsite back in October. I booked two campsites and asked they be close to each other. We left Moriarity New Mexico the day after the train derailment shut down I-40. We were rerouted 200 miles out of our way and got to campground at 554p. They closed the campground office at 6p but you could still check in at the Lodge after 6p. We aware told there is issue with one of our sites. One had intermittent power and we paid for full hookups. We were told one of us had to stay at site basically with no power then move to another site the next morning. The problem with this is that this campground always overbooks because they have cancellations. That policy stinks because we drive 11 hours to be told this! We had booked well in advance! Then we were told no generators after 10p and it was going to be 31 degrees that night. We kindly told the employee we would be running our generator as this was on them and their bad policies. Well, the next day one of us moved to the new site with power. On the second day, the power went out at the new site and it was going down to 43 degrees. Again we had to run the generator. As we took our dogs on walks, we realized that the sites we were at(M-O) were run down and not as well kept, only had gravel sites, bathrooms were always locked and potholes in the roads. The RV lanes at checkin need to be wider because buses are trying to come through and we got fussed at because there were 3 RV’s in line to check in and buses couldn’t get by. If you can secure a specific spot by paying an extra fee- do it! Also the visitor center at the Grand Canyon was closed for two weeks for employee training so there was no one to answer your questions or guide you. But I would not recommend this campground to my enemy. I will give kudos to Beau who checked us in and was very apologetic for the mix up and overbooking. He talked to his manager and gave us a deep discount on our stay but to be honest it didn’t make up for the hassle and inconvenience. He did stay well past his shift to assist other campers coming in. He should be rewarded for his compassion and dedication. Big government at its best here! Will never come back to the...
