This place is funny. So i just moved back down here to SoFlo after graduating from law school and currently studying for the bar. I also just got a small job to keep me afloat, while Iām couch surfing with family members until i can become a practicing attorney. I work in City Place, so i was looking for a gym not too far from there so that i can wake up early, work out, and head straight to work. I read the reviews of this place and Iām like nah i wonāt believe it. People are just too sensitive. Let me just tell you, the reviews were right ššš i sign up for the 3 day free pass to check the gym out to see if it was bad. Itās not as nice and spacious as YouFit in Boynton, but itāll do. The problem is with the workers. I walk in and tell the workers straight up im here to check this place out before i commit to a membership. At the front desk was this girl and she just begins to tell me how great the gym is and gives me a tour. Fine. Then she begins to tell me how i need to sign up for a membership. Sure im considering it. Then she tells me i need to do personal training. Iām like no im good. She then proceeds to talk a million miles a second and tries to convince me to get a personal trainer. I tell her all that sounds good and dandy, except i canāt afford $300 a month because im working a small job and studying for the bar, when i become a big time attorney, i wouldnāt mind spending that cash. She proceeds to try and convince me for another 30 minutes. Iām like i hearrrr youuuuuuu i know the benefits of having a trainer to push you. I just canāt do it until like after September! Then she tells me i need to sign up for a membership today. I was like why? Iām on the free 3-day pass⦠sheās like if you sign up on the first day of your pass and you do the tour, you either get the annual fee waived or you get a half off discount (i donāt remember which one she said). That sounded good to me, because in January i actually had a YouFit membership for like 3 months and cancelled it cuz i thought i was moving away, so i already paid the annual fee. So i tell her okay Iāll do the month to month plan. She then proceeds to push and pester me about the personal training again. I proceed to tell her again i just need to get a better job after i pass the bar and then Iāll do it. She tells me she will give me a discount and that the best membership tier is included in the price. Iām like okay cool but i still canāt afford it RIGHT NOW just give me like 3 months and Iāll do it. Right now i just want to do light cardio and weights on my own before i go hard. She finally sees that i wont sign up and gets an attitude. She pretends that she has something to do and leaves me at the desk and calls this boy to come sign me up š heās filling out the application and heās nice, so i donāt mind that Iām dealing with him now. When it comes to the payment screen, he tells me about the annual fee. I tell him that she said she will waive it because i signed up on the first day of my free pass. He was like oh ummm let me go check. Then he walks back to her at the front desk and heās like yeah no. We donāt have the power to waive fees. Iām like ššš okay fine whatever. I wasnāt mad cuz the reviews warned me that these ppl will try and bamboozle you. So itās my fault for not believing them. The gym itself isnāt bad. Girls locker room is kinda small, but itāll get the job done if you want to work out here, just donāt get played...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile Working out with a partner yesterday I was approached by a manager with a new female employee. The VERY out of shape manager Kevin gave me a half hearted handshake and proceeded to question my workout out session. He said " several people were complaining that I was training someone." He asked me if I was an outside trainer and I wasn't allowed to train others at This gym. We have trainers for that here. Next he told me I wasn't allowed to film in the gym. I've been watching you and I didn't see you jump into and workout sessions with your partner. My Response Hi Kevin, Im a 5 year memeber here at Youfit. I've never seen you here before. No, I'm not a trainer, I am helping my friend achieve her goals and do her workout correctly so she doesn't hurt herself. Yes, I've been jumping into a few sessions with her, don't you see the sweat running down my face. Im drenched. Yes, I can film our sessions only and there's nothing posted anywhere on the walls stating Im not allowed to film in this gym. These recordings for our personal use and review of her progress. I saw you watching us from way over there. Everyone is minding their own business, like we are doing while we workout. He and the new Blonde worker gave me a fake chuckle and floppy handshake and walked away.
At this point I felt RACIAL PROFILED by him, just to impress the new female blonde. If we were a white couple, he would have walked passed us or given us hi fives. Because we were a mixed gym partner, he felt the need to make an example out of me. I was disgusted by his actions. I've seen this happen too many times of mangers trying to impressing the new girl at this particular gym. As a Store Manager myself I would have approached the situation very differently. I would have came up and introduced myself (with my name)and give compliments on what I was saw happening. I would have came up and offered a job, If it looked like someone was training. Asking all the right question to make someone stay at the bussiness in the best thing. Instead I felt accused and shamed of doing something right for my friend and embarrassed, because of onlookers. We left after out cool down session. and I explained to my partner what happend. She was upset and confused my Kevin's questions. Kevin had sealed the deal of me joining LA Fitness the next day. He does not represent YouFit VALUES. His customer service approach to selected people/groups/ and race...
