Well last night after feeling for an old favorite, I decided to try them after a long absence due to Covid. I arrived at 7pm and the place was about 30% full. When I was seated at a table that can seat for 4, the first thing that caught my attention is that the table has cracks and damage to it and seriously needs to be replaced. My usual routine whenever I go there is to mix my egg drop soup with 3 or 4 of the wontons. I look in the container that was supposed to have the wonton soup but it was down to the last 20% and no wontons were in there. Moving on the 2nd item I would have with my soup was the chicken wings. However all the wings were badly burnt and seriously overcooked. It was also missing the usual small bit of salt that it used to have, it's as if they just dipped it in a flour batter without any form of seasoning with it. Minus one star for that.
On returning to my table and eating the wings, I found a piece of brown cloth stuck on to one of the pieces!! I struggled to tear it off and it came off in one piece. I examined it closely and confirmed that wasn't a piece of paper, but a piece of fabric. Minus two stars for that too!
Next I went to get to the main meal and I was disappointed that I didn't see any beef and broccoli though I did see beef with onions. I added the white rice first, then some mushrooms (good) and some string beans. Sadly, there was very little beef in the serving container, I fished out what little beef had remaining in it and I added some of the onions. However the onions were badly done and it's as if the cook never bothered to remove the bad outer layer of the onion and chopped and dropped everything into the pot.
The last item I tried was some BBQ pork ribs with 2 pork egg rolls. The BBQ ribs were decent and I had no problems with it and I would call it the highlight of the meal! Normally I do my own pork ribs at least one or two times per month at home, but I don't use any heavy bbq sauce as they did and they did a decent job of it.
The last item was the 2 pork spring rolls. Half a bite into one told me that they didn't get those right either. I then decided that I had enough excitement for one night and signalled the waitress to get me my bill.
I should make note to compliment her, as she was very hard working for the entire time. She made sure to be constantly cleaning up the tables and surrounding areas.
As I left and paid my bill and she added on a $3 for tip, my adventure for being there came to a total of $17.11 + tip = $20.11.
Inho it's fallen off a bit over the years, but maybe I arrived when the food was low, but that should never be since it's a buffet restaurant.
Burnt wings and with an added burnt piece of cloth stuck to it and having no flavor, is a big deal to me. Low soup containers should never be a thing Bad onion pieces says the cook is not preparing the food properly, and the pork spring rolls could be far better.
I didn't want any more fun and adventure for the night, so I decided to stay away from the ice cream and pastries.
I could have spent less and felt much better at a fast food place across the road that has the Bell...
Read moreVery disappointing. Don't waste your time and money. We live 45 minutes south, so we don't get up here very often. My sons and I were up in West Palm doing some errands and decided to go for lunch. My daughter and I had been a few years earlier and it was pretty good for a buffet. We arrived at 1130, expecting everything to to be full and fresh. We were very hungry and looking forward to it. First of all, almost none of the food was marked. I don't eat meat or dairy, so I had to guess or hunt down someone to ask. I got spring rolls and they were cold, not even baked, then left to room temperature, but refrigerator cold. All the the fried food was tepid or cold. The lomein and the fried rice which is usually brown from soy sauce was yellow. The sushi was left out, not cold or marked. Definitely not made fresh. This could be a disaster for someone with food allergies. At the end of the sushi bar were pans of food, which I realized was for the hibachi. Vegetables and raw meat left open and not cold. There was some meat which was purplish, so I can't even tell you what it was. There was not even anyone cooking hibachi or tending the sushi. If the health department came and checked food temperatures, they would be shut down. My son had some pudding and it was warm. When the pudding is warm and the spring rolls are cold, there is a problem. The service was barely adequate, the server was hanging over us and asking for her tip. We came in with good expectations and appetites, leaving unsatisfied and disappointed. Definitely will...
Read moreUpdate: lowered from 4 stars to 1 as they have no covid-19 protocals, food is consistently cold, hard and horrible tasting, no staff cares enough to do anything about it. Someone please buy this place and change the staff. Horrible owner/management. They will argue instead of giving you warm (not even hot) food.
Previously: Ever since I moved to So Flo, I have been going to this place with my family. After trying many options and trying different times of the day, I conclude that there is a good time for the buffet at this place. And that would be 11AM. Their Google listing says they open at 10 AM but they said they sent remember their password to update the time to 11 AM. Go there at opening and you will enjoy the buffet. Only issue is they like to serve a variety of seafood for dinner but no for lunch (found some shrimps and one boiled blue crab for lunch). I hate the food if I go later in the evening. They wait until an item is completely gone before bringing out the refill but by that time no one wants the previosly served left overs anyway. In a nutshell, go during lunch time and price is moderate and food is...
