Corinth National Battlfield Park is excellent and should be coupled to Shiloh National Battlfield Park. The town's grand Civil War history is on display with available maps to view the numerous, nearby antebellum homes, earthwork fortifications, and rail lines. Visitors can better understand U.S. Grant's rise and the Union's Western Front strategy after a visit. The friendly, local rangers are talented in describing what happened in and around Corinth during the war's duration.
Also, the Contraband Camp and headquarters of Johnston, Rosecrans, and PGT Beauregard, unique to this pioneer town during that era, are easily visited. Nearby is Corinth's beautiful, historic downtown with it's nice restaurants and the town's palpable civic pride. One would be wise to base their sight-seeing travels in Corinth and even visit this interpretive center...
Read moreMy wife and I traveled here to see some civil war artifacts and learn about the civil war more in detail. There was a severe lack of actual artifacts but an extreme amount of detail as far what went on in the area of Corinth during that time period. My main complaint was that it was ALL in wall plaque form, and you were forced to read about it all. I think the main draw for us was the actual architecture of the building itself and the water feature on the backside was extremely interesting and well thought out. Other than this, if you are looking for a museum experience this is not one, but they also do not claim that. It's a fun free adventure to have with kids or if you love to read about that time period but was not what I was expecting. We liked it, but it's a once you've seen it you've seen it kind...
Read moreSaw this after Shiloh. Very nice. Please note that the fountain is currently dry for needed renovations. Even so it is worthy of note. The movie and displays are quite nice as well and they have a nice set up for young rangers to explore. The rangers were also very welcoming and friendly. This center has a nice reference library btw for those seeking backgrounds on soldiers. They have the rampart set up adjacent to the building and memorial monuments from Texas outside on the hill as well. This place often gets overlooked in the shadow cast by Shiloh but they are actually linked and in fact, this battle was crucial to both sides in the conflict. Definitely worth a visit. The town is quite...
