For anyone wanting to delve into the rich tapestry of Southwestern Indigenous cultures, the Cortez Cultural Center is a must-visit. The center boasts a collection of captivating artifacts and paintings that bring the history and traditions of the region to life. The highlights include sections dedicated to Southwestern tribes. Intricate pottery, woven blankets and artifacts offered a tangible connection to the lives and artistry of these communities. Informative displays provided context, explaining the uses of the objects and their cultural significance. The Cortez Cultural Center is a vibrant space that fosters cultural appreciation. If you're in Cortez, take some time to explore this gem and gain a deeper understanding of the Southwest's fascinating Indigenous history.

Came by today to pick up a half price calendar (Ute Mtn Mesa Verde Birding Festival with photos of local birds by Chuck Haspels). All proceeds benefit Cortez Cultural Center! Yay! Was drawn in by friendliness of volunteer staff to try a cinnamon chip scone (I’m in love! Concentrated heaven in a chip. ) and a match maker latte - made with matcha and choices of what ended up for me to be white chocolate ( or vanilla or lavender) and peppermint ). I am not usually a green tea person- but this was a great combination for me - just the right sweetness and ‘latte-ness’ without overpowering the tea. Yum! Highly recommend.

Very interesting and informative center on the tribes that made this area their home. Most evenings there are young people giving a demonstration of the dances and stories from their cultural backgrounds. Thank you to Aeron for opening our eyes with his indepth look into these people.

My family and I visited the Cortez Cultural Center in Cortez, CO a few weeks back. There my girls picked out two postcards to send to their grandparents. They were so excited. After we also bought two stamps, I asked the clerk where the nearest post office was, he said he could mail them from the store's mailbox. I watched as he took the postcards, went outside, then proceeded to (what looked like to me) adjust and fix the mailbox... It was completely on its side, and he had to re-fasten it to the wall! It looked totally unused. Needless to say it's been over a month and my parents have not received the postcards from their grandchildren. I called every phone number I could find, but no one ever answers. I'm forced to leave this review so someone sees it, as well as cautioning anyone else to be weary of what the people who work...
