Enlightened Balance Chakra Spa — Attraction in Crystal Lake

I definitely love the beautiful and charming layout of this boutique metaphysical store so I visited here three separate times because I found crystals I was drawn to and other mystical items like handcrafted incense and adorable mojo bags.

Today however I visited just for a reiki healing and I could tell my Reiki Master Cate wasn't completely prepared for my arrival because she was teaching a private reiki student today and they fit me in. I do need to say that I've had many reiki treatments in my life and I do understand that each practitioner chooses to create their sessions a certain way. I didn't however feel like I received the healing of my dreams because I received very little hands on contact from Cate.

She spent the bulk of our session spritzing me with different clearing elixirs and waving her hands around my aura while making noises with some sort of tool. She also lightly drew symbols over my body instead of actually using physical contact. I definitely didn't feel a warm flow emanating from my chakras. I was especially disappointed because when I came here today I had severe hip pain and typically if a reiki session is administered effectively then you leave feeling lighter, empowered, glowing and most of the time pain free. I didn't feel flowy and at the end of Cate's closing prayer my name was mentioned aloud incorrectly which absolutely irked me! My name obviously is Diana and not "Diane"! I had to suffer through this reiki treatment and even though Cate was well meaning and was obviously pressed for time today I was truly disappointed. Today was the very first time I received a reiki treatment without being offered a drink of water. Water as everyone knows is extremely important before, during and after a reiki treatment. Cate also mentioned to me that she had envisioned me much leaner in my future. She said she was envisioning a much "thinner" version of myself all dressed up in a fancy dress with my hair darker and cropped short. I feel like Cate doesn't have a clue of who I really am and what I've accomplished all my life. I felt disempowered at the end of my reiki session and unimportant. I was slammed in the middle of Cate's busy day training a new student and then escorted immediately to the reception desk to pay. At the reception counter as I handed my credit card i was asked simply how much I'd like to tip when I naturally tip at least 20% as a courtesy. I'm writing this all down at 2 AM somewhat concerned and upset because Cate spent most of the session spritzing my aura, drawing symbols and cutting energy cords without actually SEEING me as a human being with feelings. My cat normally loves cuddling me in bed when it's time to sleep and this particular evening he just won't sleep near me at all which to me is a sign that my energy wasn't properly sealed at the end of my treatment. I do love the crystals here and the lovely layout but I would not recommend anyone try a reiki treatment here based on my disappointing experience. I'm well versed in authentic energywork and I've never had an experience where there is so little hands on contact. I absolutely wish I had just purchased a traditional massage today and came here to buy another crystal. There is absolutely no excuse for me leaving in pain today because a genuine reiki session will have you leaving lighter and tingly or pleasantly tired. I have absolutely no clue why my physical appearance and the way I choose to wear my natural long wavy silver hair irked Cate. She definitely made a mistake with her future vision of me "losing weight", coloring my hair brown and wearing it shortly cropped. I've practiced reiki since the age of 19 and use reiki during all my sessions and so I will be blunt and say that I really didn't feel whole or powerful after my session today. I'm providing feedback not to dissuade others from using reiki services; but I can't forget how rushed everything felt and how ineffectual the treatment actually was. This place always smells so wonderful and the vibe there is very soothing and positive. I’ve been read by most of there readers and I do get that it’s a connection thing but for me Roxanne, Fran and Carol are the best. Other patrons prefer other readers as it is a matter of connection and they really good as well but as I said it’s all about who you connect well with. The best part is no matter which day there was always a reader available. I’m a skeptic at heart so when I chose a reader no matter which one, they all told me the same thing with very little variance. So unless they have a meeting and talk to each other about there clients (which I highly doubt as due to the readers schedules some have never met each other) they are really talented and skilled at their craft. I highly recommend this store and the readers. They don’t tell you what you want to hear they tell you the truth whether you want to hear it or not. The owner Kim is very sweet and diplomatic. She speaks with authority and kindness and pulls it off very well. She gets her point across without being rude or snippy. No matter who you are she will give you the attention and respect you deserve. This store is always busy so you will have to wait your turn but I assure you will be greeted with kindness and respect and be 100% of their attention. I have never come across a rude mean it nasty employee or customer there. The readings are done with complete anonymity for privacy purposes. They have a wonderful selection of eclectic items to browse thru from crystals to tarot cards to the apothecary. This is a must go to place. I would only suggest perhaps a workshop or instructional classes to help others enhance and develop...

I rated Enlightened Balance shortly after my first visit which was a year ago, i think. I wanted to add a comment because they deserve it and people should hear from someone who goes there pretty frequently. If it were possible I would give them more stars. All my crystals are from them. I had no knowledge about crystals or anything metaphysical but was very interested in all related. Every staff member I have encountered (I typically go every other week) has been helpful in one way or another and has helped educate me on my journey. One of the reasons I go often is for the reiki sessions with Cate. No offense to the other practitioners but I won't see anyone else. I suffer from chronic migraines and the reiki sessions in combination with traditional medical treatment has helped A LOT. I feel she has helped me grow and learn to incorporate the crystals into my job as a therapist not only to help my clients, but myself as well. I could go on and on about how much I love this store and Cate, but I think this is definitely too long as it is. My life has improved significantly since I started coming to Enlightened Balance. I even recommend it to my clients who are open to it. I just wish I had more money to spend there!
