Piss poor job AMC.
Taken from a post about your theater.
“From the Cullman family that was kicked out of the Cullman theater for their kid crying: “This past Friday, I was left heartbroken.
Many have asked what happened to my mom and my two nephews at the AMC Theater in Cullman. My mom had taken Dawson and Bryson to see Minecraft that afternoon. Please remember—they are just 7 and 4 years old. They both needed this outing. Bryson has been in and out of the hospital, and Dawson has been really upset about his little brother. They were so excited for this movie.
According to my mom, while they were watching the film, a man and a woman were sitting in front of them. Dawson has terrible allergies and has been frequently clearing his throat due to drainage. Naturally, Bryson, being younger and not feeling 100% either, was doing the same. The woman turned around and told my mom she needed to make the boys stop “grunting” or take them out of the theater.
My mom politely reached out and lightly touched the woman’s shoulder—that familiar Southern gesture of kindness—and explained that Dawson has severe allergies and Bryson has a disability. The woman jerked away from my mom and started yelling at her like she’d been attacked.
About 15 minutes later, a young manager came in and told my mom she and the boys had to leave. When my mom asked why, the manager said it was because she had touched another guest. Mom tried to explain what had happened and the reason for the touch, but the manager didn’t care. She asked them to leave immediately, without offering a refund. The boys were heartbroken and confused.
Nothing about this was okay.
If movie theaters can’t accommodate children—especially during a children’s movie—they need to make that clear ahead of time.
My parents and our family have visited this theater for years, but they will no longer be giving AMC Cullman their business. If you have a child with a disability or even just a child who might make noise during a cartoon, please don’t take them to AMC Cullman. You may be asked to leave too.
To the woman who was so rude to my mom and my precious nephews: I pray for you. I pray that you or your loved ones never have to experience the treatment you gave us. It’s heartbreaking that the world has come to this.
Children are children. We all need a little more kindness—and sadly, it seems like that’s been lost. That...
Read moreRight off the bat, the landscaping is terrible. Weeds, overgrown grass, it just looks a mess and uninviting. When you walk in, there is no ticket box or designated area to purchase tickets, so they send you to the concession stand to purchase them. There is not a register that is solely for ticket purchases, so you are intermingled with the loads of people waiting for concessions. This is very time consuming and a complete turn off. Immediately, when you enter the restrooms, they smell like stale urine. Two of the three soap dispensers did not have soap in it and one of the two paper towel dispensers had paper towels in them. On our way to the theater room, I noticed that the marque above the entrance only had the theater number on it and not the movie. This poses a problem when you aren't the ticket holder and leave for the restroom to comeback and not know what theater number you are in. There were 2 disheveled employees at the concession stand that were responsible for the sell of concession, in addition to the sell of tickets. The line was ridiculously long, and I didn't see a manager in sight to help alleviate the stress of the employees or to even get the line down so that people could get to their movie on time. The theater room, itself, was small, which I liked. The seats were narrow and the backs didn't come up high enough to support the back and neck, making for a very uncomfortable 2 hours. The theater also had a stale, mildewy smell. Like, visiting your 90 year old grandma smell.
Oh...and bring a blanket. It gets chilly in there.
This theater has great potential and a great addition to our little town. It just needs the right people...
Read moreWe normally have a good experience here, but not today. We stood in line for almost an hour before finally purchasing our tickets. The movie (The Last Jedi)started at 12:45 and I finally got the tickets at 1:29. Not a soul was at the front where you normally buy tickets, we had to stand in the concession line. I understand you have a line for Premier Customers, but if you are not staffed to handle a large crowd and the Premier Customers, you need a better plan. Premier Customers came in bought tickets, then some would come back to get a drink or whatever. Meanwhile, you have 30 people in line who still haven’t purchased their tickets. We stood there for over 45 minutes and our line did not move. I understand when people leave you short handed, it makes things hard on everyone, but the way it was handled today was ridiculous! I know they play previews for 15 minutes or so, but I still missed probably 30 minutes of the movie. If my kids hadn’t been waiting to see this movie, I would have left. I do believe I should’ve received a discount for the long wait and missing part of the movie. Of course I didn’t have time to make a scene or discuss it too much due to the fact that we had already missed so much! Not a good experience to...
