
Prior to the pandemic I was going to Chuze Anaheim. However, with its smaller facility, clean environment, and friendly staff, I found a new home at Chuze Cypress. It was the first night the mask mandate was lifted as I cautiously walked into the gym. Having only been there post-pandemic, the friends I had made only knew me with a mask on. As I took a break on the leg press, a gym friend of mine, an older man, walked up to me to say hello. As he spoke, he kept complementing me. Eventually he reached out and caressed my face. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I don’t even touch my own face while at the gym. As he walked away, I played the interaction over again in my head. I needed to talk to someone about it, so I approached the front desk where Alejandro and Lillian were standing. I told them what happened and right away they knew who I was talking about. This man had put his hands on other women before. Alejandro began to write a report. He also assured me that it was a good thing that I said something and that what the man did was inappropriate and not okay. The next day the man showed up at the gym and Marie told him that his membership had been canceled at all Chuze locations. This is not the first time a man has put his hands on me in an inappropriate way, however, this was the first time that I felt that a place, and their people, actually cared. I usually will say nothing because usually nothing is done. Lillian and Alejandra listened to me, assured me it was not okay, took actions, and Marie showed him the door. Thank you Alejandro, Lillian, and Marie for caring and having my back! Chuze is the greatest gym! I recommend it to anyone...

I signed up back in 2021 at the Cypress, CA location, then moved. I stopped going, my card even declined at one point, and I thought that was the end. Nope. Chuze kept charging me — month after month, year after year — like a subscription to regret.
When I finally tried to cancel, I was handed off to Andrew Urbanski, who seems to be the gatekeeper of eternal billing. Andrew refused to escalate me to a manager, dismissed clear California law on automatic renewals, and even called my demand letter “blackmail” (spoiler: citing consumer law isn’t blackmail, it’s just… the law).
They’ve charged me hundreds of dollars over the years, including annual fees that by law require a heads-up (never got one). Each time I asked to cancel, it was made nearly impossible: hoops, balances, “just pay one more fee,” and zero accountability. Imagine trying to break up with someone who just laughs and keeps taking money out of your wallet — that’s Chuze.
I’ve now filed complaints with the BBB, FTC, and California Attorney General. At this point, I’d honestly have had an easier time canceling a gym in another country.
⚠️ Advice to anyone thinking of joining: Read the fine print, screenshot everything, and know that once you sign up, Chuze Fitness makes “cancel” a four-letter word.

Read moreI've been a member of this gym on and off since it opened at the cypress location. Mostly I love this gym but the flaws that kept me from going back were due to private health information being taken from me in order to cancel my membership. I was asked to provide blood work showing I had an autoimmune disease and they had to Google it right in front of me at the cypress location in order to confirm my genetic blood marker was in fact an autoimmune disease. And they had to scan it in to keep my lab work on file. Anyways..... When I felt much better to finally return to the gym I didn't because I feared it would happen again. SHOUT OUT TO ALFREDO for making me feel comfortable and confident that this will not happen again and shouldn't have happened in the first place. ALFREDO is the reason I am finally back at the gym pursuing my health journey again. Also SHOUT OUT to the MANAGER ALYSSA! When I had a problem with my membership not working she was able to explain to me the issue and immediately take care of it with such ease. She was incredibly kind and informative. THANK YOU ALFREDO AND ALYSSA for showing such kindness towards my unique situation and thank you for your patience to hear me voice my concerns...
