As much as I appreciated having a splash pad nearby for my family to enjoy, I have to be honest there were several things that made the experience concerning, especially for parents of young children.
First off, the cleanliness of the splash pad was unacceptable. The floor was visibly dirty, with large black stains and what appeared to be bloodstain like spots in certain areas. It looked like it hadn’t been properly power-washed or cleaned in quite a while.
There was also a white plastic drainage cover that runs along the splash pad most likely part of the water drainage system but it was broken in places. It felt dangerous, especially for toddlers or smaller kids who could easily trip or even fall into the open sections.
Trash was scattered everywhere, and I found myself picking up litter just to keep my one year old from grabbing things off the ground. We also noticed several used band-aids on the ground, which is both unsanitary and unsettling in a space meant for kids to play barefoot.
My strong suggestion for other parents: bring water shoes for your children. I would not recommend letting any child walk barefoot here. It’s unfortunate because the idea and layout of the splash pad are great, but the upkeep and hygiene need serious attention.
Until it's cleaned and properly maintained, I don’t think it's a safe or healthy space...
Read moreWe were invited to a bday party for our daughter's school friend. We had no idea you could rent out a portion of the recreation center for parties or gatherings!! They even had bounce houses, dodge balls and scooters. Apparently they can accommodate all sorts of events from PTA meetings, to bridal showers, to neighborhood watch, to book clubs!! The prices are very reasonable and worth it. Zodderick "Z" Adaway was very helpful in providing us with the necessary information to plan our next party. Do not hesitate to contact them and ask for Sherman Bolden or any of the staff as they are genuinely helpful. We will be back and will let plenty of our friends and family know about this place for future events....
