Tietze Park is a good sized recreation area located in Lower Greenville/Lakewood, at Skillman and Vanderbilt. Like many parks, Tietze was designed primarily for kids. If you want peace and quiet you might think about visiting another park. There are things for adults to do such as traverse the meandering perimeter; enjoy the many large, twisted and gnarly old trees; benches to sit upon and even a half dozen tables with chess boards!
Most of the southern third of the park is devoted to a baseball diamond. After that there's the pool area currently (4/2019) under construction but I imagine it'll be open by summer. Next the kiddie playground, carpeted with soft, fragrant wood shavings. The northern third is mostly open grassland. There's a “wild” (unmowed) area with wildflowers next to the pool. -- kids' playgrounds and climbing structures, -- swimming pool (it has an usual climbing wall on one side of the pool -- if you fall off, you splash down. -- basketball court, -- tennis court, -- baseball field, -- picnic tables, -- covered picnic area, -- my favorite, climbable trees. These trees are oaks that are spread out close to the ground. A kid could have fun climbing on these and not get more than 4 or 5 feet off the ground.

Read moreTietz Park is such a gem for families! We’ve been coming here for years and love how much it offers for kids and adults alike. The covered playground is a lifesaver on sunny days, and in the summer the aquatic center is the perfect place to cool off. There’s also a baseball field that’s always buzzing with games and, more recently, a brand new sand volleyball court that’s been a fun addition.
