I've been going to Young Again for several years now, and since I only write recommendations for places that have proven consistently exceptional over time, Young Again is due its proper glowing review. The ambience is calming and very pleasing to the senses, from the smell to the colors of the decor. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Scheduling is a breeze once you learn to call in for the masseuse of your choice.
In order to get a consistent quality experience, I suggest you go and try out a couple different masseuses. Expecting someone to know your likes and dislikes on the first go is unrealistic. Also, don't be shy to say you would like more or less pressure. Sure, you may need to use Google Translate on your phone at first, but once you have found your preferred person, the massages are absolutely perfect. I literally can walk in, and tell my guy to use half pressure this time because I'm sore from my workouts. Other times, I'll need knots smoothed out so he'll use stronger pressure.
Other pro tips for the best experience: Be on time for your appointment. That way the masseuse won't feel the need to rush. They do have set appointments after you. If you want absolute peace and quiet, pay a few bucks extra and get a private room. Don't be a cheapskate. If you have special needs like working around injuries, I suggest you go for the body massage like I do, and not the foot massage, which is designed for general well being. Be willing to communicate your needs. If you complain that some of the staff cannot speak English, bring your peasant self to a place where all the staff can, and pay up accordingly.
Young Again is where I go every time I need to press reset, mentally and physically. I run myself into the ground pretty hard sometimes, but after an appointment, I always kick myself for not going to them sooner. Try them out. You'll be...
Read moreI have been here twice. I won’t go back. My husband and I went on a Friday after we both had a very long week. First, they required us to pay and tip right when we got there- almost $200 which is still quite a bit of money given the cost of everything these days and when you don’t know what you’re getting. They put us in a room and didn’t give any instructions or ask if we had problem areas etc. nothing. We stood there guessing if we were supposed to get on the table. When they came back, they still didn’t ask so I told the lady that my upper neck and low back were bothering me and wanted deep tissue focus there. She really only worked on my neck over the towel and didn’t actually do any sort of targeted suboccipital or upper trap release. More frustrating was that she would do very quick strokes on my shoulders and each time she came up, her forearm would actually bump my head. Given I’d already had a headache all week, this made it impossible to relax- both the pace and knocking of my head- and I had to move my head away a few times. The two women also consistently had conversations between themselves which made it further impossible to relax. My husbands massage was a bit better. Had we not been forced to pay upfront, I definitely would not have tipped 25% for my massage. The last time I came was just ok but the lady still didn’t work on my neck or target areas of my low back I’d asked for. She tried to tell me it was my it band. I’m a PT and told her, I can roll my legs, I cannot work on my own back and that I know my low back, is in-fact tight. I get the prices here don’t warrant luxury experience but I think there should be a bit more skill and effort to be professional and...
Read moreSeveral years back, I prepaid for massages from this establishment. I used some of the prepaid cards, but moved down the peninsula so had less occasion to get up to Daly City, then the pandemic hit.
So now that things are reopened, I made an attempt to try and use my massages. The website notes that older cards need to pay a surcharge. Perfectly understandable, and I mentioned my older cards with the receptionist when calling to make an appointment.
Upon arriving, I hand over my prepaid cards and prepare to pay the surcharge, when she gives me this aghast look, "THOSE cards? Those are too old. Two owners ago." She repeated the two owners thing multiple times as if that meant anything.
No one asked me what type of cards I had when making the appointment. This business has the exact same name at the exact same address. How is anyone supposed to know about ownership changes? It's the same business. They want to keep the name to ensure they keep familiarity and reputation from existing customers but refuse to take on obligations of the same-named business.
Didn't offer me anything, and acted as if this was my fault somehow. Clearly, this is an unstable business that does not care one bit about customer service at all. This could have been an opportunity to do something and attempt to cultivate us as customers of this new ownership, but they couldn't be bothered with that.
I can't advocate patronizing this business to anyone. Too many other options --...
