Canton Restaurant — Restaurant in Daly City

This location has changed owners through the years. I remember coming here during its "Tea Tree" era in the late 80s if I recall. Now it's called Canton. I unintentionally brought my family here for Mother's Day dinner. I called in the reservation a few days ahead. Mind you, originally I had thought I was calling the location at Top of the Hill at 6356 Mission Street, called Pacific Restaurant. It's good I went in there to check. A lady told me that location only offers to-go meals (even though there are still tables and chairs everywhere), and I was directed to call/go to Canton on 90th street. Lesson learned, Mother's Day crisis averted. On to the dinner. Once seated, it took a while for the servers to come to our table. While I would've appreciated more attentive service, I had to remind myself this isn't a high-end fancy michelin star spot. We're here to just grub and go. So once our orders were in, it took another 30m for them to start serving us. They had also forgotten to bring out a drink order and did not ask if we wanted water. We had to make do with tea, or risk taking another long while for them to check on us, do other things, and then come back again after another long stretch. We’ve been before and had a decent experience. Today’s experience was terrible.

A huge group 40+ left and they obviously needed to clean up and reset. No problem — but no one took even a second to communicate anything to use. We were consistently ignored unless we went up directly to ask questions.

An Asian woman came with 2 kids 5-10 mins after us and sorta perched herself in their vicinity while they cleaned up even though she was also told to wait.

After waiting about 20-25 minutes, we were finally seated. The woman and her kids already had drinks by this time. We asked if we could at least get drink service.

They finally came to us to ask about drinks — but after bringing the woman and her kids a plate of hot food and telling us “they’d be back.”

This was our breaking point. It’d been 40 minutes of being not only ignored but skipped and we were hungry and frustrated. We told her we’d instead be leaving. So disappointed with today’s experience because just small acknowledgments would’ve made this a very different experience.

My mother ordered 5 party trays from this resturant . When she arrived home everyone looked at the trays in disbelief that 100.00 per tray !! Looked so little . Chicken wings were chewy an sawgie, Wasnt good at all. Rice was mushy an veggies were not even fully cooked. I tryed to call the resturant an this man was so rude after complaining . I told him for 100.00 i can make 2 full trays of chicken at home .. He replied... that i better go an cook my own chicken at home !!!. How rude!! I asked to speak to the manager ,an the guy tells me NO!! SO BECAUSE WE WERE DISRESPECTED AS CUSTOMERS. IM POSTING , BECAUSE I CANT TALK TO A MANAGER ,I HOPE THEY SEE THIS .
