I stayed at El Camino Inn this week and my experience was horrible. I had stayed there a few years back and the hot water heater went out. The office did not even tell us we had to find out on our own by stepping into a cold shower. They did not even offer a reduction on the room that time, other than that the stay was fine. This time my room check in was at 2pm, room was not ready till 4pm (strike one) Next they said they never received my business cc info, when in fact it was confirmed and had been sent they could not find it in the mess of papers on top of a table, so I had to use my card. Moreover, my office was closed on Sunday and they were prepared to give them the corp account info early Monday morning and asked they reverse my card charges and use the company American express instead and they said we cant do that (strike two) Trash cans outside by stairs as well as other areas of the property were overflowing with guest food and pizza boxes not sure why no one could be pro-active and take to dumpster to avoid it looking so bad, thus rats (strike three) Never seen managers or office staff walk grounds, thus bum asking me for money and food (strike four) Went down Monday for breakfast, said 7am and to my surprise was not open till 20 minutes after opening time, and found packaged Danish and coffee nothing else. Last lodging, they had juice, toast, muffins and Danish and not sure how they call this a continental breakfast, call it what it is Danish and coffee (strike five) The entire time there Sunday to Wednesday and keep in mind the time in the room was minimal as I was in San Francisco on a project, it was so hot in room that I had to leave window(s) open, I don't think there is a/c in the upstairs rooms (strike six) When ready to leave, I noticed that on the lower part of the box spring, a giant brown stain that was hidden by the bedspread. Although my body did not touch that area, if they would check the rooms in detail this would have been noticed (check seven) There was not even an apology for not having my room ready on time, and the guy at the counter, did not care and came up with a lame excuse they were booked the night before. That is their problem, not mine and just an offer of good will would have made me happy. When checking out there was a police officer in the office where the woman was working, keep in mind these are the same two mangers that were there from my stay a few years earlier. The only thing she said was let me look at your bill, did not ask how my stay was, how was everything or nothing. The only good thing was the rooms were cleaned well by staff and parking is free. I would NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE to ever stay there until they get their act together, get a real breakfast and look after the guest. Also the Wifi kept kicking me off in the middle of doing work (check eight) and this, I am sure happens all the time. It is not my job to tell them all the problems. If they ever came out from their office to check on things, walk around, meet guest in breakfast room the experience would be beneficial for all. They live on the property and are too comfortable and in my opinion, should stay in the lobby greeting guest instead of guest coming in and having to wait to be greeted. I took the time to write this and usually never complain except when exceptional bad...
Read moreA charming old fashioned roadside motel. The good: The location can't be beat. Less than 1/4 mile walk to the Colma Bart station. I booked a room with one queen bed. It was a small room, but just right for one person. All sheets, towels, blankets seemed new and were perfectly clean. I inspected the bed, and the mattress and box spring were perfectly clean. The TV was a new flat panel TV, and had a good selection of channels.. Free parking right in front of the room. Wifi was good (35mb down, 15mb up). Bathroom was perfectly clean and stocked with plenty of standard soap, shampoo, and body lotion. A new coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge were also in the room. Very quiet and peaceful at night. Owners were friendly.
What could be improved:
The carpets - they are in dire need of replacement. They were dirty and ripped. It wasn't a big deal for me as I usually bring flip flops or slippers with me. Also, the furniture was pretty grubby, The table surfaces were clean, but the rest of the furniture had stuck on dust. Also, they use a plug in oil diffuser as an air freshener which is overwhelming for such a small room. I unplugged it as soon as I got there and opened the windows and door. After being there for 3 nights, the room was still clean smelling - the air fresheners weren't needed. They are probably causing the stuck on dust on the furnishings due to the...
