My academic experience at UC Davis often felt more like surviving a Temple Run than participating in a meaningful educational journey. Instead of being challenged in a way that fostered growth, I felt like I was constantly dodging obstacles, navigating politics, and trying to protect my interests from those who seemed more invested in competition and appearances than collaboration and learning.
I often found myself excluded from opportunities, misunderstood, and even judged for thinking differently. It was disheartening to encounter a culture where genuine curiosity and individuality sometimes felt like liabilities rather than strengths.
By contrast, my experience at NYU was refreshingly different. The environment was more professional, supportive, and intellectually open. I didn’t feel the need to play social games or “fit in” — I was simply able to focus on my academic goals and grow in a community that valued diverse thinking and treated students with respect.
While UC Davis may work for some, I would not choose it again based on my experience. Even if it were financially more affordable, I would still prefer a place like NYU, where I can thrive as a learner, not just survive as a student. By the way, do you know why monkeys are in zoos and in the cage? Do you know why low people are at UC Davis? Because human being are different from monkeys, because Stanford people do not need to be...
