The Kaltenbach exhibit (opening today) was a refreshing look at this conceptual artist turned "traditionalist". The exhibit spans from the late 60s to now. Since I've only experienced his recent work, it was good to see/understand his earlier "conceptual period"...it provided new insight into his more recent pieces- the docents and staff were very friendly and wanted to help you get immersed into the exhibit. The museum itself is surprisingly first rate. All in all (docents/staff, exhibit presentation, and the museum itself), this UC Davis museum gave me a great, thoughtful experience...wish I could have stayed longer today to actually meet...

But in order to park you need to download an app fill out a bunch of information for the app. Fortunately I gave up when I realized the museum was closed anyway, there were no signs by the parking so I could have paid as much as $17 to park if I would have gone and filled out all the gibberish that they were asking for and then walked up to the door to find out...

I enjoyed the approach and easy parking, the big gong is fun and resonant, the entry way is dramatic, and the museum is welcoming, stylish, and feels good.
The museum itself, as well as its artistic contents, provokes thought, just as any good art should.
The museum is well worth stopping into and then wander around the campus...
