If I could give this hotel a lesser rating I would. The only reason they deserve the one star is the front desk staff attempts to right the wrongs but it has come to little to late and ruined our experience with Hyatt and we will never be using them or or their sister companies again. First, we came back to our room after a funeral to find that the maid staff had not serviced the room to which she said they were told it had a do not disturb sign on the door, which I guarantee it did not. Next, I hope you weren't looking to relax in a jacuzzi after a long day of travels or whatever the reason be, because they do not have one and their pool that is posted to not close until 10pm was closed early for some reason. When I questioned the front desk the only answer I received was they did not know why it was closed. Next, I tried to forget all these unfortunate events by getting a glass of wine at the bar and to my suprise they only chill white wines not red. This hotel also has a hidden built in charge to your room for parking in their parking lot since it is "on campus" which means you would have to park miles away to not be on campus to not get charged and they don't openly disclose this information. I for one have never been to a hotel that doesn't offer its guests a place to park for staying at their establishment. We actually chose the Hyatt thinking it was a higher class than some of the local options but feel we were quite mistaken and completely disappointed in our experience. I hope you have better luck than we did and we are looking forward to checking out first thing in...
Read moreI booked my stay via phone and did not check my reservation booking email.
The lady who helped me book my stay quoted me $700 for one room and $1100 for two rooms. Because the two room deal sounded good, I booked it.
When I arrived at the hotel I was billed $1500.
I called the Hyatt phone number again to ask the customer service folks to have a manager look up our call recording to check this. I was placed on hold and gave up after forty minutes of waiting.
Please look up the call recording and forward it to me and listen to it yourselves. I doubt I am in error, but it is possible. If Hyatt made the error, please refund the difference.
Thank you.
Edit 1: I just settled in with my kids and went down to the pool only to find out it is closed for maintenance for the duration of my stay. I am actually quite upset now. The reason I booked this hotel was that there was a pool for my kids to swim in. I specifically asked about this in that same call with the same lady about this and was told it was actually open right now. Please send me the recording so we can get this resolved.
Edit 2: I just met a gentleman in the elevator who is headed back down to the front desk because the front desk gave him a room that someone else was already in. Geez.
Edit 3: I got an email from Hyatt claiming they listened to the call and they said $1500. They did not attach the recording though. I asked for the recording and for an explanation about why they said the pool was open and working when that was false. Also, check out this picture with a broken toilet seat and peeling wallpaper in...
Read moreIf you stay in multiple places while on the road, you'll find some places are absolute gems & some that aren't. This isn't one of them. Despite it being a "Hyatt" property, it doesn't quite live up to the high basic standard of Hyatt expectations. I know, I've been on the road almost my whole life it seems and I've been to quite a few Hyatt's, Hilton's, holiday inn, and many others. On the outside it presents a fabulous facade of luxury. Polished marble floors. Huge windows looking south to a field and the bottom of a raised freeway roadbed. Pretty exciting, On the inside, the entry and foyer are luxurious and clean looking. Appearances can be deceiving, in the hallways the carpets are dirty and it smells musty, like mold & mildew in the walls. Inside the rooms are dated furnishings, dark, and dank smelling carpet. As if they had just had a party and beer spills everywhere. I guess you gotta kind of expect it, it is located on campus at UCD. They do have a good breakfast and they have bikes (like 3 - maybe) you can use to get around the campus. Nothing to grand as far as that equipment goes, they're like Huffy and/or Roadmaster type bikes. You'll get your legs pumped up that's for sure. There is a gym, closed last time I was there due to the "COVID" thing. And there's the pool, again closed because of the COVID. So, if it's hot, go to your room and take a nice shower and enjoy the luxurious towels they have. They are just about the best in the business. As always - enjoy your...
