UPDATE 4-22 I've decided to add an addendum to my initial review. The Regional Director of Sales reached out to me after I posted my initial review (frustrating that that's what it took to get them to notice me, but hey, at least they reached out); at first, I wasn't going to respond to his email, but we were beginning to have a questionable experience with the other hotel at which we had already reserved a block, so we wanted to have a backup plan (or at least another option - not really sure why hotel blocks are the only thing causing us stress about this wedding!). The manager was incredibly quick to respond, answered all of my questions, and was, overall, accommodating. I'm giving them 3 stars for now - just because at least they've taken a bit of the bad taste out of my mouth; it still shouldn't have been this hard to get this done - and will update if anything changes.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was, and continue to be, incredibly unimpressed with this place. I've never seen the accommodations they offer, but I give them one star (and would give them 0 if I could) for their service.
My fiance and I are getting married in De Pere, and this hotel is the only hotel that's even remotely near our venue, and they also offer a shuttle, which is incredibly convenient; more than half of our guests will be traveling from out-of-state. As soon as our venue was secured, I began trying to get in touch with the person who coordinates hotel room blocks at this hotel so I could get an idea of what the contract would look like, the policies, etc. I attempted to contact them numerous times through Wedding Wire, I tried calling, and I even WALKED INTO the hotel one day because I was so frustrated at the lack of communication.
I spoke with the hotel manager who was pleasant enough, and he apologized for the lack of communication and advised that the person who is in charge of the blocks is actually off-site. He also told me that it was pretty early to be looking at hotel blocks (we were now within a year of the event date), so that may be why nobody has contacted me yet. He gave me some information, took down all of my contact information, and told me that he would personally make sure the coordinator contacted me.
Months later, I still haven't heard from them, my wedding is in 6 months, and I've had to book a block at another hotel, much further away, and I will also now have to worry about making shuttle accommodations.
Usually, when someone says "wedding," vendors jump through hoops to try to get your business, so I'm beyond disappointed in what I've received (or rather, haven't received) from this hotel, and I can't imagine any situation now where I'd stay there or recommend...
Read moreFirst, it's a salt water pool. So all the complaints about chlorine are invalid. My husband maintains pools for 3 hotels where we live. As soon as he jumped in he knew it was salt water. We almost didn't book this hotel because of the reviews about the pool. This was one of the cleanest pools we have been to!! And the temp was great. All of us were able to walk into the pool without hesitating due to temp. Hot tub was great and clean. Kids even begged to go back to the pool in the morning before we checked out.
The room was huge!! Like wow! We had a 2 queen suite with a pull out sofa. It worked like a charm to fit 2 adults and 4 kids.... something that is very hard to book! Most hotels only allow 5 guests even with the same type of rooms. There was a TV, desk, armoire, microwave, mini fridge, extra counter space with more cabinets, and for the bathroom/shower it had a pocket door which saved space in the room design. Sink is outside the bathroom/shower which was soo helpful as one was going to the bathroom, another could brush teeth or use the sink.
We were on the 3rd floor about halfway down one floor. There was some noise around 930/10pm but it settled quickly and was likely people just finding their rooms and getting situated. The elevator is at the center of the hotel and yes it is a bit slow and noisier than most you've likely been in but the hotel is only 3 stories tall and the elevator was safe to be in. Again my husband works for hotels (maintenance) so he would've said something if he was concerned.
Parking was easy and nearby is 2 gas stations, Walmart, Menards, and a car wash. So whatever you forgot you can easily get.
Breakfast in the morning was the typical continental. Waffle maker, eggs, sausage, muffins, bagels, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juices, coffee and tea. No issues whatsoever.
The only complaint I have of the entire stay, and to us it wasn't a big issue, is that the outlets need to be replaced. All outlets we tried our chargers would fall out. The tops of the outlets were the worst, the bottoms would work but still easy to fall out. My husband said it was just time to replace the outlets but no concerns using them.
We will mark this hotel as a great one to stay out for future travels! And it's the perfect distance to travel to the other side of Green Bay, or down...
Read moreI made a online November 10th reservation for this hotel on May 13th as there is going to be a Packers game in town. On May 14th, I received an email that my reservation had been cancelled. Why? I called the property. The person who I talked to (Jay?) didn't know why my reservation had been cancelled. He could see there were rooms available, but at higher rates than what I had in my reservation. Jay called me back a few minutes later and tried to explain that since there was a Packers game in town, the hotel was going to charge higher rates than what I had in my reservation. ||So basically someone in management had screwed up and not anticipated that there could have been a Packers game in town that night. Often times, smart hotel managers will block all reservations until the football schedule comes out. In this case, they are trying to cover their mistakes at my expense.||What the heck? I thought when I made a reservation with a credit card, that was essentially a contract between the hotel and myself? At best, this is a very crappy way to treat a customer. At worst, I believe that cancelling a reservation and then turning around and renting the room out at a higher rate is actually illegal to do in Wisconsin.||I had told Jay from the hotel to have a manager call me back. I still have heard nothing, and I am not holding my breath on that one. I called customer relations at Choice Hotels. They said they couldn't do anything for me, but would escalate with management at the hotel. I am not holding my breath on that either.||The worst part for me is that there were other reasonable hotel options when I made the reservation. However, by the time the reservation was cancelled those other options were gone. This is costing my money out of my pocket.||This experience has left me with a very bad taste...
