Fairview Shopping Center — Attraction in Decatur

A hell hole of humanity. Definitely one of the worst shopping centers in all of Decatur. Drugs deals in the parking lot and a good chance of getting robbed or car jacked abound in this bastion of the west end ghetto. That said, you can enjoy good Mexican or Chinese food, here, or the worst wings available at Wing Stop. Dollar Tree and Dollar General round out the special kind of shopping experience located all over Decatur, a dollar for everything, or 30% more for product from D General that disguises itself as a discount store. Let's top it off with the run down Kroger store. I can't blame the staff. The place is just ill fated due to location and less than cordial or thoughtful clientele. The place gets ravaged, for 40% higher prices than Wally World, perhaps a better option to drive a few miles and experience Target or Wally World, itself. It's always a pleasure getting eyeballed by the security officer looking for shoplifters, and the Decatur Police Department might as well just build a mini station at Kroger to handle all the arrests. If buying food stamps is your thing, there is usually someone offering so they can buy liquor and smokes with their welfare benefits. There are a few other shops available, a tanning place, a musical instrument store, I can't speak to, because I've never been to them, but as a whole, I think 2 stars is a good average for the center. This used to be one of the bigger shopping centers in Decatur. Since the loss of Kroger and the Kroger gas station there's little left to make it worth going to. Also with the loss of Convey this shopping center is on the brink of extinction. It's sad that we have lost so many stores and places to shop locally. One of the staff members at Dollar Tree is extremely rude to all customers. She throws customers belongings into the bags and slams things on the counters as if she is throwing a tantrum from working. She is fairly new there and I know this as I frequent this store.

While all the other staff members are helpful and polite.
